That's your interpretation. I don't buy it in a general sense. Sure, you'll get extremists who meet your criteria but the vast majority of people aren't in that category. Worryingly, far more people seem to be in a category that seem to have complete indifference to a genocide, and then there is an even more extremist group that seem to think it's actually OK.
Do you see weekly protests against China and what it does to Uighur Muslims? Do you see weekly protests against Russia? Did anyone march in solidarity with the Palestinians when they tried to rid themselves of Hamas? How often do you encounter Palestinian flags? Do you see anyone protest against Pakistan illegally deporting Afghan refugees, sending them back to the Taliban?

Of all the protests you see, what percent are protesting against the existence of the Jewish state?

Would it be 100%? I would say so. They’re singled out and lied about and the ire gets turned on Jews everywhere, regardless of their views on Israel, to the extent that we know from reason that the object of hatred isn’t Israel, it’s Jews…

Oh I wholeheartedly agree with all of the above. Except, this again raises my initial question: If Europe failed the Jews, and it most certainly has, and yes, it goes far beyond Hitler (in fact, he's become the de facto scarecrow and an easy distraction for Europe to pin its failures on, as if the whole ideology was not adopted by millions), this begs the question, why were Arabs the ones to pay the price? More importantly, how come white people, and not for the first time, escape the scathing vitriol directed at literally every minority when they do something bad? Immigrants stir trouble and rampant islamophobia ensues. A racist, fascist ideology is adopted by millions, resulting in the biggest tragedy in Europe's modern history and it's "our Judeo-Christian values! Those filthy primitive Arabs!"

Or, at best, we hear something lukewarm like "oh yeah, the West has its failures..." As if 6 million dead jews is merely a "failure," and not an indication of something far more monstrous and sinister.

Truly amazing how white, capitalist hegemony just manages to brainwash.
The Arabs didn’t “pay the price” for anything other than their inability resist wanting to annihilate the minuscule Jewish state. Remember, Zionists had purchased a lot of the land that comprises modern Tel Aviv in the 19th century, with the permission of the colonial power which ruled it. Largely, the Jewish people and their neighbours got on. But once the tiny dot on the map called “Israel” was formed, they were attacked. There’s that famous video of the Hillel Neuer of UN Watch exposing the treatment and lack of safety of Jews elsewhere in the Middle East, which, regardless of whether you like him or not, shows how Jews in the ME are not safe anywhere, except in the Jewish State.

You’ve made a few jibes about “our Judeo-Christian values”, as if you imagine that we think the West is perfect, and Arabs are “filthy”. Both of these summaries are faulty…

Actually I have seen a few smallish protests about the CCP here in Oz - mainly related to Falun Dafa. No, it's not 100% about Israel - nowhere near. In fact anything related to mass protests against Israel is actually fairly recent in the West. Prior to 2020, do you recall mass anti-Israeli protests? Me neither. However, I do recall mass protests against the Iraq war - so @brokenshoelace should be mindful that most of these "horrible white people" in the West don't actually support their government mandated incursions overseas. Most people actually want to be left the fuck alone.

For the most part, people are told what to protest about. Most of this stuff is orchestrated. You say... governments are sitting on their hands allowing this to happen. Urm... not really - rules are being drafted up to control speech throughout the entire western world in response to these protests - go look at the bills going through parliament pretty much everywhere... Problem, reaction, solution. Just like everything else happening right now.

Ah, Western history at work.

1) Zero words about Al Nakba. Which is fairly predictable considering it consisted of Zionist atrocities, forced displacement and ethnic cleansing against Arabs.

2) By 1947, Jewish ownership amounted to 7% of Palestine. Hardly "a lot of the land."

3) As always, just a complete lack of mindfulness for settler colonialism and what that actually entails.

4) Jews everywhere are a lot a safer than neighboring Arabs of the Jewish State, as evidenced by Gaza and the West Bank.

But yes, Jewish settlers burning Arab homes, villages and people every day in the West Bank is just a glimpse of the peaceful Zionist neighbors, who of course just want to be left alone.

A whole Wikipedia article on the matter. Remember, this is the West Bank, where Hamas presence does not exist.

And since 2020 would you say that protests against Israel have been proportionate to their situation, or massively inflated? Since we saw the empty heads racing through the corridors of elite American universities, and the weekly masked events in London, it’s not stopped. They’ve permeated society like head-lice. And to an extent you and I would agree, they don’t represent the majority and they are acting under orders - and they have been fomenting anti-semitism from the top down: the university professors seem as ignorant and twitchy as the dopey students, but since the left rule the main education centres in America, that’s hardly surprising.

But they’re dangerous, and they both encourage and practice violent means. We have these actors In Ireland too, and it’s becoming the conversation to avoid, anything at all related to Jews.

There might be useful (and useless) idiots who joined the pro-Hamas parade, but let’s not kid ourselves as to how hateful of Jews it all is. The day after October 7 we were at a gig where my heart sank to see a Palestinian flag on stage, and myself and the missus were the only audience members to remain seated when invited from the band on stage to stand and cheer the fearless freedom fighters.

The only surprising thing is that the people around us didn’t gang up, but they probably didn’t know how to react, they were so bravely chanting and roaring in favour of Hamas.

Ireland hasn’t shown sense since then…

I must refresh the page on Wikipedia, it’s such an example of knowledge and precision in research. :lol6:

I’m pulling your leg, brother, but you must realise that for every link you or I post there are links which contradict them. For example, the Nakba has been variously described, once as a day when 4 men attacked a single man and he kicked the fuck out of them and they’ve been celebrating this ever since.

I know that’s offensive to some, but it’s offensive to Israelis that their neighbours hold such violent intent toward them, too. And this much neither of us can deny.
2) By 1947, Jewish ownership amounted to 7% of Palestine. Hardly "a lot of the land."
A lot of what land? Read again, I said that “Zionists had purchased a lot of the land that comprises modern Tel Aviv.” As for the land of Palestine you mentioned, tell me why they were never given their own state when Egypt ruled there? And why does Egypt now have such a big fuck off wall on their border with Palestine?

And why the Palestinians have never accepted a two state solution? Bill Clinton can still be found wandering the lonesome alleys of YouTube lamenting that Arafat rejected a deal that would diminish the size of Israel and would help rebuild Palestine.

With the aid they’ve received since, they seem more keen on building tunnels.

4) Jews everywhere are a lot a safer than neighboring Arabs of the Jewish State, as evidenced by Gaza and the West Bank.
But Arabs in the Jewish state are free to hold jobs, be members of parliament, preside on the Supreme Court, attend Pride marches, be prominent female diplomats, politicians and business women. They’re a lot safer than Arabs outside Israel who might be women or gays - and they’re far safer than Jews would be in their neighbouring countries.

You’ll forgive me if I don’t suffer Abby Martin on the Joe Rogan show. Joe has been inconsistent, to say the least, in who he’s platforming. Abby Martin is a socialist, I know what she thinks, and tend to disagree…

Many seemingly conflicting things can be true:

Not all Jews are Israeli, not all Jews even support Israel

Israel exists, it is going to continue to exist. It has as much right to exist as any other country.

The Palestinians have the right to run their own country.

Israeli expansionism is real, and it's time for that to be acknowledged and stopped.

Anti-semitism is real, but so is islamophobia. Both are scourges that should not be tolerated.

Not being willing to accept the imposition of Muslim cultural preferences in a European country is NOT islamophobia.

Not enough is done to make known the atrocities perpetrated by the Israeli government and it's settlers

The possibility of peace in the Middle East would be much higher if Iran and it's proxies accepted the reality of Israel's continuing existence

Islamic culture will continue to grow as a problem in Europe until European nations assert their laws that promote a multi-ethnic polity and stop trying to tolerate multiculturalism. There's a difference. If you immigrate to a country you have to explicitly accept the rules and behaviours of that country. It would be absurd for a Western woman to live in Saudi Arabia and believe that she can walk around in a boob tube and mini-skirt. Know where you are, and respect it. If you don't want to comply... leave!

I could go on... the world is a complex place. I honestly believe that most of the problems in European countries arise because progressivism is failing. People immigrate to Western countries because of their freedoms and economic success. It is therefore, even more important to conserve that very cultural and economic success that made these countries a destination of choice. Not to destroy it! It's frankly absurd to cater to the needs of people who have made the decision to join you. No where else in the world would this happen. An immigrant in Malaysia or Argentina would be expected to fit in to the indigenous way of life. It's that simple

The Israel pushback has been targetted. I don't think it's massively inflated. Targetted? Yes. Our views on anti-semitism are unlikely to share any common ground as I would label somebody like @brokenshoelace more of a traditonal semite - certainly one with a better claim than some helicoptered-in Eastern European Khazars.

Brother, no matter whose numbers you believe, or don’t believe, the Israeli conflict in Palestine is minuscule compared to what China are doing to Uighur Muslims in China, or what Pakistan have illegally done to - and continue to plan to do to - Afghanistan refugees. The ayatollah, before he was dispatched to his bed of endless unfortunate virgins, apparently disposed of 30,000 actual protesters against his evil regime in a matter of a few weeks. The Jewish conflict is not on the same pitch as these boys, even if you were gullible enough to believe the numbers that the Hamas health department give us.

And if you were to take the view that Israel are engaged in an urban warfare which they must win, with an implacable foe who have continuously pledged not only to destroy Israel, but to kill Jews anywhere, and not only this, have kindly offered their own innocent fellow Palestinians the opportunity of strange martyrdom, perverse martyrdom, by embedding themselves among the innocents to increase the factor of difficulty for Israel, to increase the numbers and therefore, increase the international pressure on Israel in ways that are unprecedented in modern warfare history - even at all this, you would still be bound to weigh things fairly and say that the singling out of the Jewish state is morbidly inflated. The way they have been singled out, and then watching people on NYC subways hurling hideously dated blood libels at Jews, not even Israelis, while physically attacking them too, is a trend that tells the tale.

It’s not difficult to make the connection…

I don't think I've quoted any numbers, so that seems like a stock response. Why focus on this atrocity when there are bigger ones around? Well, simply because it's the topic of the conversation. If you want to fire up a topic about the plight of the Uighur Muslims in China - be my guest and we can all sing Kumbaya in solidarity around the virtual camp fire.

As for innocent Jews being attacked in NYC - I'm in total agreement with you... of course they shouldn't be tarnished with the same brush as the Israeli government. Likewise I don't like being bracketed into actions taken by moronic western leaders who seem little more than unhinged psychopaths to me. I'm sure many people in Europe and North America feel the same... "not in my name..."

Listen pal, I'm a bit of a pragmatist with this stuff - I'm well aware Queensberry rules don't apply and it's a complicated situation... but this can't be brushed under the carpet...

Wow.

This is what I mean when people over here talk about the ignorant Western mind. You watch a genocide and forced starvation in Gaza, families terrorized, having their homes destroyed and at times killed and burned alive (to no accountability) literally every day in the West Bank, while Israel has built children-only prisons without due process, where Palestinian children are prosecuted under military law (yes, we're talking as young as 12 years old) and held indefinitely, Palestinian prisoners raped by dogs, yes by dogs, (verified by The New York Times, the UN, and other Western entities), subjected to all sorts of torture, and then make the above claim.

Just one time I would love if Israel defenders can actually post rebuttals rather than saying "oh for every video you post, I can post one." Please do it then, or don't bother. If you have anything showing that Israelis face anything remotely similar to the above, please be my guest. Otherwise, the sneaky weaseling isn't fooling anyone. Neither is the "what about what happened in X place?" which apparently, is many times worse... Not sure how can something be many times worse than a genocide but hey...please continue your dehumanization.

No, I’m not asking why are we on this forum focused so much on the Jewish state, I’m saying why is the western world so focused on the Jewish state and ignoring far more terrible and substantially larger problems in the world. You’ll notice the lack of sympathy for peaceful party-goers who were butchered and raped, and the rape of these young women was even angrily denied, in a horrible effort to completely corner the Jews, block them off from any sympathy, and add the insult of calling them liars to the injury of rape, all while Hamas were loudly gloating over what they’d done, and filmed, and showed the world.

The demonising of the Jewish state is far more excessive than any western criticism of China, or anybody else, and this has led to attacks on Jews in general, the resurgence of old blood libels, and even new libels, about raping dogs.

I can only put it down to what I can see. The left and far left have always hated the Jews, you can trace this back to Karl Marx and beyond. And they’re the trouble makers in our society today, organising street “protests” en masse to keep the heat on Jews. They run the schools and universities that encouraged this rampage soon after October 7. They are gleefully joined by the far right, and of course, they’re the loudest, emptiest vessels we have.

As I say, they’re not representative of the majority, but loud people seldom are. Even in Australia where you live now, and even in the Guardian, a far left rag, where I’m just browsing responses to the Bondi Beach attack, we see the increase in danger towards Jews, generally, is not because they’re Israeli, but because they’re Jews:

[Mike] Burgess said Asio recognised the ongoing conflict in Gaza was “an emotive issue”, and that antisemitic incidents had increased since October 2023.

“We saw threatening, intimidating behaviour through [to] the end of [20]23, against Jewish Australians. All the way through [20]24 until when it pivoted to direct targeting of people, businesses, and places of worship in October [20]24.”

Now you will know that Asio is the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, others like me wouldn’t know without looking it up. Notice how Burgess mentioned the “ongoing conflict in Gaza” as the cause for attacks on these Jews, of which only the rabbi had citizenship in both Israel and Australia. The rest were just Jews celebrating their holy day. Notice also the ghoulish symmetry with October 7th, where kids at peace party were butchered.

Of course, Islamists don’t need any excuse to attack Jews, but the unfortunate head of Asio was both right and wrong to mention the conflict in Gaza. He was right because the conflict had led to an increase in anti-Semitic attacks, lies, conspiracy theories etc.

He was wrong because it was always about the Jews..

I’m not dehumanising, as I’ve said, I have sympathy, and especially for you, being over there.

Can you please verify that the NYT and UN verified the dog rape story that was in the NYT? Over here that’s just seen as another example of the decay of that formerly great newspaper, and its decline into being hacked by far left activists…

I truly mean it when I say this, how come you don't try to check it out yourself? You clearly have strong opinions about what's going on in Israel...with all these harrowing allegations, aren't you at least curious to know if they're true? I mean, a genocide is live streamed by the very perpetrators and you seem to think there are many worse things happening (which tells me you either don't consider the victims to be human or you genuinely have no idea what's going on). An American journalist describes Israeli practices in Gaza and the West Bank and you don't want to listen to her because she's a socialist (but lament that Zionist is a curse word) when her accounts do not differ one bit from literally every Western journalist who visited. Ample evidence of sexual violence and torture, and you don't seem to be remotely interested to check it out when everything is available on the internet. Even pro Israel politicians had to comment on the famine/forced starvation last year, that's how bad it got. Yet, not a peep from your end.

This is not a good faith conversation. If you have better things to do, by all means, but then spare me the half-informed rebuttals.

I have examined it myself. I’ve found no verification that the NYT story is true, and no verification that the UN said it’s true. As I say, it’s seen an example of the NYT’s decline, and not as evidence of good reporting.

As for socialists, no I don’t believe them when they talk about the Jews, or almost anything. I live over here, remember..

I'm talking about the behaviour of the state of Israel. End of.

Here is the NYT story:

If you want UN reports, this is a good place to start.

This will never stop while people keep giving this government a free pass. I can also only presume too that you're not aware of half of this stuff.

I’m talking about the behaviour of people in their reaction to the Jewish state. It’s clear what it is and what’s behind it.

Your first link didn’t open, but if it’s the NYT hatchet piece including dogs, I’ve read it. I see your second article is from the UN. Are you aware that the UN currently has something like 190 resolutions against the Jewish state - and zero resolutions against China, Nigeria, a couple against Iran, and so on.

Do you believe that this is proportionate? Since 2015 there have been more than twice as many UN resolutions against Israel than the whole of the rest of the world - by far.

Do you believe this is fair, or has one nation been singled out for special treatment? I tend to think the UN is an example of that type of global body that you rightly despise…

It may not be proportionate in comparison to other states. I'd have to analyse it... but the solution wouldn't be to give Israel a pass - it would be to make sure China and Nigeria weren't given a pass either. You don't appear to be disputing the claims so I'm not sure why you would be so keen on this going away. If only 10% of these claims are true they'd still paint a harrowing picture.
