The issue is, Israel does exist on stolen land though, and the whole concept predates holocaust guilt and the holocaust itself. The decision to colonize Palestine took place in 1917 in the Balfour Declaration. Then of course came the Nakba of 1948 where nearly a million Palestinians were expelled, 400 villages were destroyed, and countless massacres took place (with Israeli settlers/soldiers on video in interviews talking in great detail about the atrocities they committed, and proudly of course). This is the history of how Israel came to be.

The other problem is, they haven't stopped since. They've been gradually expanding and suffocating Palestinians since, with increasingly brutal measures. I know it's hard for a many people in the West to come to terms with that but unfortunately, there is no conspiracy here. This is how Israel was created.

The even bigger problem is that those measures are not some Netanyahu specific policies. This is literally what Zionist ideology is. Just listen to any far right Israeli minister speak, or really just the general population...that is what that country is.
Yes I know. The British Empire is responsible for so many of the problems that exist in the world today. They made decisions that favoured their own interests, unfortunately there was no consideration for longer term stability. You see it in Africa, where ethnic groups were forced together to optimise British economic interests. But it was more than that, they actively promoted a divide and rule method to control the populations, to this day rivalries exist, as a result, that didn't need to. That's not an excuse for the parlous state of under-development in Africa, but it's an explanation. What I'm trying to say is that injustices exist, often caused by outsiders and it's up to us as a human civilisation to find a solution now. None of us, no nation now, can use what happened in the past as a basis to justify permanent conflict. But that doesn't mean that Israeli expansionism shouldn't be checked right now. This is the frustration because often this is quietly ignored, and I agree with you.

By the way, this is not exclusive to the long passed British Empire. America has been doing it since the aftermath of World War 2. They have destroyed democracies in the Western Hemisphere to promote American corporate interests, same thing in the Middle East, the British and Americans (possibly also the French although I forget) destabilised Iran and brought the Shah to power, and we're all paying the price for that now. Imagine what Iran would have been like if they had been allowed to flourish since the 1950s? Or I could talk about the aftermath of the Arab Spring when Egypt overthrew Mubarak. Didn't the Muslim Brotherhood win the elections thereafter? America didn't like that. Democracy it seems is only a good thing when it elects leaders, political parties that aren't a threat to American or Israeli interests. We all know it, we see it

Yes, you are absolutely correct, but what can we do? We can't force the state of Israel not to exist now. Give the land back to the displaced Palestinians. It's simply not practical. The question is, what can be done now to secure a peace going in to the future. This is not an excuse, it is not support for what was done. It is pragmatic, it is realistic, it doesn't taste good

I agree with the above but I think what every critic of Israel is asking for is accountability. Their prime minister is literally a convicted war criminal, yet the genocide in Gaza is allowed to persist, protected and funded by the leaders of so called free world. Illegal settlements in the West Bank continue to expand at the expense of Palestinians who continue to lose their homes, lives and livelihood. Lebanon is getting destroyed and ethnically cleansed, and Iran has suffered an unprovoked attack. That is a A LOT for one country to be doing unchecked. So we can debate if Israel has a right to exist, but it exists, and since it does, it must bear the consequences of its actions.

we're seeing progress on this front. Many countries in Europe have now declared that a Palestinian state needs to exist. It'll take a long time for America to get to that point. They might never, but the younger demographic on both the left and right in America seems to be looking at Israel with a more critical eye. It's not enough, it's not quick enough. But.. and this is the fatal error I think Bibi has made... I think any future Administration will be far more cautious with their support for Israel. I still haven't worked out what that means but I don't think the US-Israel relationship will ever be the same again, even if they deny it. It would happen a lot quicker but AIPAC is more powerful that the NRA

Of course barely a peep from the Christians in the West, because faux Islamophobic outrage about things that will never happen is way more important than real outrage over the very things that are.

Kinda like society losing its collective shit over masks during COVID and the supposed dystopian oppression of it all, but absolutely no reaction to Palantir handing the powers that be data about every single American.

Maybe at some point it might dawn on you that they are all connected. Covid, Palintir, Digital Id, Climate Change Responses... and that seperating them up and putting concerned parties against each other is how they get rolled out.

It's interesting when you peel back layers of the British Empire. Let's take the the African aspect for instance. Cecil Rhodes was the main name behind securing all the mining in Africa along with the De Beers... who provided the seed funding? and who administered his estate after? The same family who orchestrated the founding of Israel. Long list of Rhodes scholars also embedded in the upper echelons of American media and politics ranging from the Clinton to Maddow. The networks run deep.

But is there really much of a link between Cecil Rhodes and Rhodes scholars. I get the association, but it's not really much of a link is it? One would hardly claim that Alfred Nobel has much of an association with Obama, or that June Huh has anything to do with John Charles Field..

But your point is well made regarding the founding of Israel. That is interesting indeed!

I"d say the main difference is that they are awards at different ends of the funnel. The Nobel Prize for outcomes, the Rhodes scholarships for training talent as they move into the Geopolitical funnel.
Rhodes was very much a one world government man based on Anglo American scaffolding.

You could argue the UN kind of morphed out of the British Empire with a realisation that colonialism would have to be dismantled at a surface level for it to succeed. Although underneath the surface a lot of similar structures still exist and much of the training done in the same institutions - Oxford, Cambridge, London School of Economics...

While Belfast is enjoying the "public beheadings" phase of the "diversity is our strength" policies of Europe, I am totally enjoying reading Gad Saad's Suicidal Empathy and laughing my ass off at some of his sayings, like calling home invaders "uninvited house guests" or calling rape gangs in England "undocumented love makers " or "altruistic sperm donors"....:face-with-tears-of-joy:. Saad is a Lebanese Canadian brother from another mother, that had to leave Lebanon during the Civil War in Lebanon because, well, his family was Jewish. Parasitic Mind was also an amazing book by him. He should be a national treasure in Lebanon if you ask me. But I am aware no one is asking.

I wonder how the Zionist who claims Israel "stands as a bastion of diversity and resilience" as it commits one war crime after the other in Lebanon is not a Lebanese national treasure. SAD!

He might have astute political opinions about certain matters, or even most matters, and yes, Lebanese Jews have definitely been persecuted, but the idea that a man who's on both knees performing verbal felatio and propaganda for a genocidal entity, death count denial when the monstrosity is livestreamed in real time, mocking Lebanon's diversity when Christian villages are burning in Israel and Christians literally cannot take a walk without being spat on, should be a national treasure in the very country in which said atrocities are being committed is the kind of logic only condescending clueless westerners can come up with.

Fuck off with this bullshit.

Dismissal of Civilian Casualties in Gaza: He has characterized allegations of Israeli war crimes and genocide as "The Nine Big Lies Against Israel," arguing that high civilian casualties are the inevitable result of Hamas using Palestinians as human shields. He has frequently questioned the validity of Hamas-reported death tolls.

Yes, I'm sure Mr. Saad is correct. As the image above shows, there was a Hamas militant in every one of those buildings.

Condemnation of "Suicidal Empathy": He frequently criticizes Western academics and progressives for what he terms "suicidal empathy" towards Palestinians, arguing that such students exhibit "idiocy" by viewing Israelis as white colonialists rather than recognizing their ancestral rights.

Yes, "suicidal empathy" is when the West provides Israel with a green light to do literally whatever the fuck it wants for 3 years, committing all sorts of horrors against Palestinians, including women and children.

This video exists, like countless others, and not a person will be held accountable. That is the "suicidal empathy" the West is showing the Palestinian people, as Gaza is in ruins, illegal settlements continue to flood the West Bank...

Gad Saad talks of "ancestral rights" for the Jews. Yeah man, how is the person citing make believe fairy tail books to justify genocides (which he denies are even happening) not a national treasure, asks the Canadian Westerner from the safety of his Western home.

Why is the guy championing this regime not treated as a national treasure?

A whole Wikipedia article on violence against Christians in Israel. Meanwhile, Lebanon, by law, must have a Christian president. But please, let's have Gad Saad and his legion of clueless morons lecture us.

The reason I'm condescending when Westerners talk about anything pertaining to the Middle East is that many of you guys are uninformed clueless idiots who struggle to see Arabs as human beings.

in my defence I "liked" specifically because of his views on culture wars issues in the West. I wasn't aware of his opinions about the Israel-Palestine conflict.. To be honest I've found other aspects of his politics confounding, not least his almost personal animosity towards Kamala Harris. I'm not particularly impressed with her but I've never really understood the hatred. I keep meaning to sit down and try to understand how that came to be. I'm sure she's not perfect, but I've never understood how anyone can perceive her as a magnitude worse than Trump. That in itself was suspicious to me

I seriously was not talking about you. We've had conversations about politics before and they were less heated than our basketball conversations. I don't want everyone to have the same politics as me.

But Murat's post, even if it wasn't his intention, was particularly triggering because it highlights how we've always been treated by the West. Not only are we supposed to sit down and take it, we have to like it as well. It's OK to believe Islam is the root of all evil, because immigrants fleeing from the very countries the West has taken part in pillaging are trouble makers, but America and its allies killing millions of Muslims over the past century is OK because they're not dumb enough to carry a cross and outwardly do it in the name of religion (until Trump and his army of idiots took over and said the quiet part out loud. OK, then what about the Jewish ethnostate the West installed in the Middle East in the name of some make believe book from thousands of years ago who's done nothing but cause death, rape and destruction around them? Are we allowed to criticize them? I mean they are literally doing it in the name of their religion. No, that's antisemitic.

Gad Saad is a genocidal maniac. Yes, his family was persecuted in the Lebanese Civil War. My village was also massacred by the right wing Christian Militia. You don't see me advocating for the killing of all Christians. I'm an atheist who is originally from a Druze family. Guess what, I'm not going to use my hardships as justification for senseless violence. That is exactly what Israel and its allies manage to do. So yeah, sorry I don't consider the fucker who is defending the below a hero nor a national treasure.

Oh, but that wasn't what Murat was talking about. Well, yeah, I fucking hope not, and that is precisely my point. You guys' main concerns is woke culture, freedom of speech, immigration, etc...

Our main concerns is staying alive while trillions of dollars' worth of explosives drop on our heads. Yeah, you don't need to flood the streets to fight our fight, but can you at least spare us the condescension as our loved ones die every day?

You know that for every video you post I can post 10 beheading and suicide bombing videos from "the religion of peace" but I am not allowed...

And I am not a westerner, just someone who grew up in the middle east in a secular country and saw what Islam can do to a country by the likes of Tayyip Erdogan.

@brokenshoelace , what you don't get is (among many other things ), people cry for the Palestinian children all around the world. But your anger is misplaced.

*You say juvenile stuff like Israel is on stolen land...like pink haired Canadian leftist college students who do land acknowledgments before every event. Stolen from whom? Surely not Palestinians as they never had a nation, not erected one government building, not printed one coin. Maybe Ottomans? They ruled the area for 400 years. Maybe my peeps should have it back? Judea, Canaan , Asyria, Babylon, Persia, Romans, Greeks? Mamluks? Even Brits? Who?

There are no stolen lands in this world. Lands change hands, by conquest or other reasons. If stolen land was an argument, every country with the exception of 4-5 remote islands would have to change hands.

*Palestine received over 40 BILLION dollars in international aid in the last 20 years, mostly coming from EU , USA and other countries. What do you think Hamas did with that money? Tunnels was never a good use of those funds but here we are.

*You must be familiar with Bakaa Valley....even Turkey had to come over and bomb the shit out of it because PKK terrorists were training there in the 80's and 90's, like almost all other terrorist organizations. Mahsun Korkmaz Academy was there, backed by Palestinians of course. Today, it is Hezbollah's and Radwan Force's playing ground. Not nice if you ask me. Lebanon should get his priorities straight...and not ask stupid questions like why they are being bombed. Stop helping terrorists.

*In 1700s, when US was just starting out, sailors were being taken hostages and used as slaves by the Ottomans. Roughly 2 million US and Europeans. When Jefferson went to talk to the ambassador in London and asked why this was happening, he said "we have not done anything to you, we never had a problem with the Muslim world, we were not a part of the crusades, not a part of the Spanish war, so why do you enslave us? Ambassador Mr Abdurrahman said "Because the Quran gives us permission to do so..."
See, the Islamist fundamentalism goes far back from the Israel issue or any bullshit the Muslim world says today. Got nothing to do with western democracy, occupying holy lands etc. Islam likes to spread by the power of the sword, since day one. What is the penalty for apostasy again in Islam?

*With all its flaws and shortcomings, the western culture at least moved on from that bullshit. Maybe because it had a 600 year head start compared to Islam and maybe Islam will get there too but I doubt it. Because they are busy exporting their ideology to Europe and North America.
Notice, no young Muslim is trying to escape to another Muslim country, they are all aiming for Western locations. Why is that?

*Maybe it is because they are sick fucks who like to form rape gangs and get some action? Thousands of British girls have been victims of Pakistani rape and grooming gangs and the numbers are vastly underreported because these people have framed the issue so well, with the backing of the leftist bleeding heart liberals, that people and the police are afraid to report anything because they are afraid to be called racists. What a scam.

What do you think the purpose of the October 7 attack was by Hamas? Did they think they would take over Israel? Did they think they would win a war against Israel? Of course not. Those bastards may be crazy but they are also smart. They KNEW what kind of reaction they were going to get from Israel. They actually DEPENDED on it, so that they could put civilians in harms way and then display their bodies on CNN and tell the world, see, this is what they are doing to us. Those sick fucks. What they did not know was, even before Israel sent one shot to Gaza, the leftists morons in the west were already condemning Israel ! College campuses were full of protests...And after Israel started bombing Gaza, it reached crazy levels. Anti-Semitism is now at an all time high. "Gays for Palestine" is an actual thing They must like rooftops, those gays...So once again, Hamas won...

Listen, all my family are Muslims, they have never hurt anyone. I grew up in a secular country , but predominantly Muslim country. So when I say stuff, I don't have to preface it by saying "Not all Muslims are..." etc. etc...Smart people understand that . But let's just say, and be super charitable, 10% of Muslims are the jihadis and extremists that I am talking about. That makes roughly 150.000.000 Million people that want to end infidels and their western way of life ! The majority? They do not matter. Most Germans were honest, nice, hard working people but when Nazis starting making soap out of others, the peaceful majority was irrelevant. Most Russians were good people just wanted to take care of their families but when Stalin killed over 20 million Russians, they were irrelevant. When Chinese killed over 80 million of their own people, the majority, who are amazing people, were irrelevant. During September 11, there were about 2 .5 million Arab Americans living in the US. It took only 19 Arabs to fuck up the country, and then the whole world. The 2.5 million great, loving, family oriented Arabs were fucking irrelevant.

I asked this question before: Israel has nukes, right? What if Iran had one? It would take only ten seconds for them to use it and that 10 seconds is for entering the codes. They do not care that their people would be smoke in the next hour. They actually WANT that. Living does not interest them. Dying does. Better on the other side. I KNOW this ideology. I have met people like this.
If Israel dropped all their weapons and said they will not retaliate to anything from anyone, there would be no Jews left in the next 24 hours, with the exception of some women for certain purposes. If Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, ISIS, Boko Haram etc said and did the same thing, the world would have a chance to be a better place.

aaand since nothing I said had zero effect on how you think, I am now wondering why I wrote all that. Well, I guess it had to be said.
Whatever...
If you have an argument, pick a point I made and refute it, without whataboutism and silly social media videos. Or bring up your own point, ask me anything. I will answer without attacking you personally. If your argument is " From the river to the sea..." then obviously you do not want an honest exchange of opinions and ideas.

Ah yes, mansplaining from the partially informed Westerner, my favorite type.

Let's start: "You know that for every video you post I can post 10 beheading and suicide bombing videos from "the religion of peace" but I am not allowed..."

Perfect please do. By my calculation, you'll need 10 million videos to match the death toll caused by Americans in the Iraq war alone.

If you're going to be a condescending dofus, please at least understand the difference between Jihadi extremists who are universally condemned and make up for a small percentage of a religion (whatever you think the percentage is, although 10% is laughably high), and a sovereign country like Israel who is currently committing a genocide and has killed literally over 1 million Muslims in its history, with the West backing them, cheerleading them, funding them, protecting them, etc... Equating the two is some world class mental gymnastics.

And by the way, Saudi Arabia, Iran and the UAE are all authoritarian, murderous regimes. None have come close to the atrocities committed by Israel. I love the "if Iran had nukes they would use it in 10 seconds"...

"Estimates suggest that Israel has dropped the equivalent of 6 to 14 "Hiroshima" atomic bombs on the Gaza Strip, depending on the timeframe evaluated. [1, 2, 3]
These comparisons are calculated by analysts using the total tonnage of explosives dropped relative to the 15-kiloton yield of the WWII Hiroshima bomb (about 15,000 tons of TNT)."

Yeah man, Israel sure has shown restraint.

It's quite impressive that you think I'm defending Islam of all things, by the way, shows you what a narrow Westerner mind is capable of grasping.

Then there's this:

"You say juvenile stuff like Israel is on stolen land...like pink haired Canadian leftist college students who do land acknowledgments before every event. Mamluks? Even Brits? Who?"

Ah OK, so if Iran invades Canada, throws you and your entire fucking family out of your home, takes it, rapes your women, burns your people alive, etc... it's not stolen land cause you know...let's give it back to the Native Americans. Again, amazing Western culture on display, putting more stock in arbitrary divisions of borders than the graves of the people living on a given land. All land is stolen... I guess must be OK to wipe away entire bloodlines then...

And yeah, I'm juvenile for saying stolen land but the moron who uses "terrorism" as a real thing because the people doing it grow beards. But you see, the Mossad has never committed a terrorist act in its life. The West has never supported terrorism, surely. You shouldn't be allowed to be this stupidly naive in your adult life. Get the fuck out of here with that dumb bullshit.

Rape you say?

This is all state sanctioned by the way.

I love that "Silly social media videos" is Israel committing war crimes in broad daylight to absolutely no consequence whatsover. Destroying Gaza in its entirety by killing over 500,000 people with surely more death on the way due to brutal conditions, forced starvation, etc... If this is "silly" to you, what do you actually consider as legitimate? Please teach me my Western savior.

Iran has a population of 92 million. Yeah, they only care about death, all of them. Not life. Sure. That's a perfectly reasonable belief that is too advanced for my narrow Middle Eastern mind to comprehend.

Ah yes, mansplaining from the partially informed Westerner, my favorite type.

Let's start: "You know that for every video you post I can post 10 beheading and suicide bombing videos from "the religion of peace" but I am not allowed..."

As I was saying, zero effect whatsoever.... You did not even read what I said, let alone refute anything. Little bit of history and it goes right over the head...Just resorted to the age old argument of the uninformed and uneducated: Name calling. I find it adorable as the leftist girls with septum rings here do exactly the same thing.
Good luck with the fight.

Ok buddy, good talk. Just for the record, because these things often get lost in the shuffle, this "conversation" started because some Canadian asked why is a notorious Zionist and Israeli shill not a national treasure in Lebanon. I explained why, since you know, it's hard for Lebanese people to champion a mouthpiece for a country that's currently killing them, and I got...whatever the fuck you posted about.

Yeah man, history goes over my head. I'm just incapable of grasping complex historical analysis like "all land is stolen" to justify genocide.

PS: My favorite Western trick is the implication that gay people in Gaza would be thrown off rooftops, which you masterfully snuck in your post, when it's faaaaaaaaaar more likely they'd just be bombed by Israel.

Your tricks aren't fooling anyone. But thanks for not using "informed and educated" original arguments, as opposed to my age old uninformed and uneducated arguments which are...stop killing people?
