Wow..Alex was up two breaks in the 2nd set and was serving for the match if I recall correctly
That was ugly, but nothing new! IDK why people are shocked by anything that happens on the tour! Sans the 2 elites, no one's safe from early on in matches! Leads mean little & seeds prove nothing as we've just about lost most of the top 10 in the draw! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Alex became a DF machine,
He lead 5-2 and 40-30 in the 2nd set DF on his MP, he served again at 5-4 another DF allowed Norrie to break back and then went AWOL and Norrie won the 3rd set 61? Alex just got married the other week, maybe his Head was still in Marriage Mode, his wife WTA player Katie Boulter also lost her match.

Good to see Tallon Griekspoor backing up his win against Zed the other day, with a 3 set win over Arnaldi 36 64 63

Finally got a stream to watch Fonseca v Rudd on serve in the 1st set 4 all
Fonseca is struggling a bit to keep the ball inside the court at present 16ufe so far, he needs a bit more controlled aggression on his shots and return service games
At present it is Fonseca's bhand is his better shot so far in this match
6 games all TB for the 1st set, Fonseca found his fhand a ripper down the line btw.
Ruud with his 6th DF, most of his DFs have found the net in this match, he usually dosent make this many DFs, then he makes 2 good 1st serves
Ruud with 3 good 1st serves leads 5-3
Fonseca with a wonderful fhand winner and a great first serve
5 all
Great lob Fonseca 6-5, Ruud with a good 1st serve
6 all
7-6 Fonseca with his 2nd SP, jumped high for a winner lob
Fonseca fights back down from 4-2 in the TB
Fonseca 76(6) 1st set
Well done to Fonseca 76(6) 63 over Ruud
Fonseca played better in the 2nd set, he appeared to take the momentum from the 1st set and played better
Fonseca will play Ben Shelton next in the round of 16.

I'm assuming the two elites are Novak and Carlos. Heck, even Jannik with a big lead isn't a sure a thing. Like I'd trust Rafa, Novak, or Carlos to close it out if they were one game away and serving for the match. As @Murat B. said, with Jannik, I don't have as much confidence, and would actually be worried he gets broken.

May I remind you that Jannik remains underfeated in all the Masters 1000's he has played this year? completing a Career Golden Masters the youngest at age 24!, he also broke Djokovic's record for the longest streak in ATP Masters 1000!
At Wimbledon he faced 1 BP all match, in his SF match against Novak which he won with a good first serve and defeated him in straight sets
In the final against Zverev he also faced 1 BP all match again he served an Ace

I think the two almost absolutely certainties were Pete Sampras's serve and Jordan getting foul and hitting his free throws at the end of a game. Pete was the only player that could be down 0-40 and second serve but still be in total control of his serving destiny. Pete's second was so deadly because it was a body serve at 115-121 mph plus he was so lethal to follow it into the net.

AP
Ivo Karlovic and John Isner hold the highest career service game win percentage in mens tennis history for not getting broken
Ivo won 92% of his career service games
Isner won 91.8% of his career service games famously going massive stretches and entire multi- hour marathons without being broken
Isner holds the record for the most Aces 14,470
Ivo 13,728 Aces
Federer 11,478

Luciano Darderi has advanced to his first career hard court Masters 1000 defeating Borges 46 63 75
Darderi probably known more for his clay play in Roma defeated Zverev in 4th round, he did make the SFs losing to Ruud.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Ben Shelton is the only remaining top 10 player.

Jodar d Lehecka 63 63, it is the 3rd consecutive Masters QF for Jodar
NOTE:,
Jodar is up to #13 in the live rankings,he would rise to #11 with another win, and likely Top Ten debut with a final ( would need title if Shelton reaches the final )
Jodar will play the winner of Fils v Norrie in the QFs

Fils will play against Jodar in the QF.
