Since I was holed up in a Washington DC hotel after a chess tournament I decided to tune into the game last night; I think the 2nd or 3rd game I’ve seen. Seems like the US is still as irrelevant as ever despite the hype around the team this year. It’s cool to see how much the game has grown here, popularity-wise, but fans are turning into the obnoxious “this is our year” every World Cup now.

The World cup is a scam. How the hell did Infantino think that everyone would just accept his suspension of the red card to the US player! And when have a red card ever been suspended and awaiting another foul in a year?
Cristiano Ronaldo, he had a 3-game ban suspended, otherwise he would have not played the first 2 games of the World Cup. (He'll probably never serve the suspension because he's retiring.)

Yup they were a bit delulu :D I'm English, and I think our fans can be a bit deluded some times. England is a good team, in most tournaments baseline is quarters or semis, winning is a whole different thing. I'm not sure American fans understand how much better that French team is than any other team. If they don't win it all I'll be shocked

retiring from the playing in the next World Cup. I'm not sure I've heard anything saying he's retiring from International football. So there's every chance he'll try to play in the next Euros which is in two years.

Actually not. He did serve one game and the other two are suspended for a year. I never heard of anyone not serving any game at all and get them all suspended.

I am actually glad the US fans are getting into it more. That's how the team will start to grow an identity. Fans will start to follow the players in their regular league teams, wherever they may play. It may never get to a point like us in Europe , with the existence of other sports in North America, but they are paying more attention, understanding the game a bit more, beyond the " they are all floppers" thing.
