Do you think the Refs want to see a sweep or stretch out the series so they can make a little more dinero
Not directly I don't think. But the cheapest seat was around what, almost $5000 at MSG ? There is so much money involved everywhere from sponsors, commercials, betting places and at the gate that everyone wants an extended series. Refs cannot NOT get influenced by it. Can they blatantly affect it, I don't think so but little things here and there at crucial points in a game and you have an extended series. My problem with officiating is not that they are crooked, even though some may be, but the fact that they miss so much stuff and they are not consistent. Maybe the modern game is just too much and too fast for human eye, and that's where you and I argue sometimes ;).

Did you watch the Showtime Lakers, Bird Celtics, Bad Boys Pistons and Jordan Bulls? Yes or No.. This is playoff basketball and things are tampered differently because this is the NBA biggest STAGE. I think you may have just got accustomed to regular season basketball where the league is just trying to preserve for lack of better word the players season. Its the Finals and it just judge differently. This is not anything new.

I grew up with that age of basketball , never liked the Pistons and the Jordan Rules and all that. Every time Jordan drove to the basket his insurance premium went up ! ;). But Pistons did the same thing all season, no? They just beat him up , regular season or post. Laimbeer was not an angel during regular season LOL.
I know the intensity HAS to go up during playoffs but officiating should stay consistent. You can increase your intensity and still not foul people.
Imagine in tennis, they move the service line a foot closer to the net because it is a grand slam final...No, they don't do that just because it is a bigger stage and a more important moment and yet, players definitely play with more intensity in those finals. Stick to the rules that worked all season.

Having said that, if they actually change the rules on paper for playoffs and say certain rules can be disregarded and will not be called during playoffs, I am all for it. That would be honest.

Have y'all noticed that they keep changing Victor's height from 7'4 to 7'5 to 7'8 by every so called NBA Pundit that thinks they're a basketball guru.

Spurs are defending like crazy and not missing any shots. Knicks will have to play catch up all night again. That takes a lot out of any team.

You give up 76 points in a half in an NBA finals game, and at home …spineless. This series is over now, Spurs in an easy 6.

Embarrassment territory for KNicks.
Harper is a stud...I cannot believe the guy is a rook. Well done Ron , I guess.
Knicks either give this one up and give all the psychological edge to the Spurs or go out and play hard in the second half and at least make it respectable.

I’m glad my old reverse jinx powers are alive and well :)

Only thing more pathetic than giving up a first half like that is choking what is pretty much a must win game away.

It will be interesting to see if Knicks come out with any intensity in game 5 or just more or less take the game off to try to close it out at home in G6. In situations like these I feel it’s a big mistake for the road team to just gear up for the next home game to try to close out the series. Kind of saw that with OKC shitting rhe bed in games 4 and 6 last series. The worst ever case of it IMO was Clippers - Rockets 2015. Clippers were on fire and just destroying the Rockets and got a 3-1 lead. Good old Doc and co barely made an effort in Houston for game 5 and then ended up gagging game 6 away before predictably getting blown out in game 7.

Knicks have to go for it in game 5. They at least have to try and start well and not fall behind early, like in every game they played. They have to keep it close and trust the closers to bring it home. Spurs are too unpredictable, I would not want to leave it to New York.

As someone with no horse in the race, I'm just glad the refereeing debate has shifted a bit and people have realized what an absolutely insane whistle the Spurs have been getting these playoffs (on and off the court, so to speak, given the NBA's unwillingness to do anything about Wemby's blatantly dirty plays). Props to the Knicks, but this series isn't over. James Dolan has done his best to jeopardize their chances with unnecessary distractions because you know, billionaire white guy syndrome I guess, but this was a comeback for the ages.

They thought they could just ride it out and the coach fell asleep cruising....By the time it was a 1 point game , he was still sleeping. They only woke up after OG's tip in.

this would never have happened with Pop. I've watched Pop deal with Steph flurries over the years. The moment Steph hits one, he calls a time out. Resets the team. Mitch Johnson was paralysed. No game awareness at all! De'Aaron Fox, dude, you're the vet, the point guard, the game manager...
