Hi Phi,RIP Moxie
Is there an obituary online for her?
She was really great! I didn’t know even half of that. I feel we’re all lucky to have had her in our lives…
Thanks for that, BB. Just left my contribution there. I am glad I was able to say to her some of the things I wrote now, but we always feel we left something on the table. And now it is too late.
Good to see you, Riot! Yeah, it was terrible news, she’s sorely missed. But nice of you to drop in!It's been an eon since I've been on here (it's a great place, but life intervenes), and I just wanted to join the chorus to say what a loss this is. I still remember a charitable, decent and funny sparring partner when debating our favs, Nole verse Rafa. I'm now wishing I found some time to jump back on here and discuss tennis with some truly great folks like Moxie. RIP.
what a sad reason for me to log back in here. thanks @britbox for letting me know.
I haven't been on here in ages, but it is moving to see folks "congregate" to mourn the loss and celebrate the wonderful person that Susan was. so much has already been said - it was wonderful to read through all of your replies...
I was lucky to meet Susan when I was in NYC back in... well, a couple of years ago... on a business trip. among the many wonderful qualities about Susan was that there was no hesitation for even a second, rather a joyful invitation, i let her know I was in town. We'd never met before, but it instantly felt like I'd known her forever, like a cool big sister showing me around NYC, some great tacos and margaritas included. It did help that we shared so many passions - beyond tennis, it was wonderful to partake in her enthusiasm and love for film, music, the arts, hear about her extensive travels and work stories, and her fierce political stance.
Susan made sure we kept in touch over the years, often tying in @Kieran in our exchanges, and every time I managed to write her (the last time sharing the news of the birth of my son), I'd receive a wonderful and thoughtful reply.
since others have posted musical tributes, I want to add one to - a young Spanish guy singin an Italian tune, a women's worker song turned into an anti-fascist hymn, resurfaced in popularity through the media of film... so this seemed fitting.
Ciao, Susan.
here's her taking our selfie at our one in-person meeting.
