Watching Paul against Elmer Møller and Elmer took the first set and Paul the second. The young Dane is showing some great tennis.

Already lost a couple men seeds; shockingly from the US! :astonished-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth: It's become routine to either retire or WD w/ just a little bit of success beforehand! Amazing that Macháč is gone; Michelsen wasting time even traveling to Paris! Shelton's "holding on" up a break in the 5th set! How'd it get here? Sonego's no Italian Titan!;)

Shelton won, in the end. But Sonego is a solid player, esp. on clay. Michelson and Nakashima gone. Machac had to retire with a back injury. Maybe one of those who didn't need to play in Geneva last week?

He didn't get through in the end, but acquitted himself well for a LL v a seeded player.

BTW, @kskate2, we were talking about Chris Eubanks: he brought his suits to Paris in anticipation, and now is commentating. So is Sloane Stephens, but I think she's injured. Or has one (injured) foot out the door.

But, speaking of TV coverage, of Roland Garros in the US: be careful what you wish for, I guess. I hated ESPN, but TNT and TruTV (whatever that even IS!?) is just amateur hour. They must instruct them to talk completely over the point on TruTV. The other option is MAX, which but you have to subscribe to watch any of the tennis. I don't see how anyone who is not already a tennis fan would ever stumble upon these majors to bring in new fans. And the rest of the year, it's TC.

The not-so-Dangerous-One is in trouble v. Diallo. He's down 2 sets to love. So even losing early in Geneva didn't help him.

NBC’s RG coverage was horrible. Tape delays and couldn’t find many matches. At least TNT/TruTV showing two live matches right now, and their NBA/March Madness coverage has been better than anything on ESPN

What does that say about his confidence that he brought his suits in case he went out early? Why not go play a challenger or ask someone to play mixed or doubs and see if you can get a WC.

As far as coverage, I like the ability to see different live matches w/o having to pay. But for commies, definitely amateurs. I didn't tune in to hear Scone, Coco and Chris argue about their underachieving careers when I'm trying to watch. The oldheads are seasoned and used to calling matches: Lindsey, Jim, Jason even Mac. I understand what they're trying to do. TNT wants to appeal to young folks, but Scone is too gossipy, Coco is way to negative and poor Chris gets baited by both into useless drivel.

Simply overplayed and didn't manage his schedule well or picked up something in Geneva/Paris that zapped his strength. He's going to drop a few spots as he was QF last year.

Fritz is over-rated. His claim to fame may be denying Nads IW back in 2022 and being Zed's kryptonite. Other than that, what has he really done to claim a top 5 ranking?

Fritz has that Top 5 ranking only because he made the US Open title (I'm still mad at Tiafoe for choking that match.)

And let's be honest, Fritz only won because of Nadal's injury. Nadal might have won the French Open, but he clearly was never quite right after IW. Nadal struggled during that clay season and only got worse as the season went along.

i already bemoaned this point a while back! IMO it's a joke Fritz is even in the top 10! Other players have so many more weapons! He has absolutely nothing that can impress or lean on to get him past better players! Rafa dropping that IW Final to him has been his only highlight; his lowlight dropping that Wimbledon QF match while up 2 sets to one a couple yrs. ago! :angry-face::astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::anxious-face-with-sweat:

I'm upset you're making me defend Fritz! You seem to forget he was injured himself in that IW Final vs Rafa! He probably was ready to WD it was so bad, but got a shot, was told he couldn't injure it more, & went out there to steal a Masters Title from a so-called ATG! :astonished-face::angry-face::fearful-face::yawningface::anxious-face-with-sweat:

Yes, Fritz is trending downwards since that USO final last year. I also wanted to see Tiafoe in the final against Sinner.

Fritz's clay season last year was quite good for his standards, but this year he is back to losing left and right.

Tragic day for Argentina in RG. If I had been able to complete a draw it would have been a disaster. I was not that confident in them anyway, but R1 losses for their top 5 is way beyond my worst prediction. Baez got a though R1, ok, but I was pretty sure Etcheverry would pull the upset. No comments about Cerúndolo, Diallo is a good player but on clay it should have been a straightforward affair (well, it was, but just the other way around).

Still alive are Navone and the younger Cerùndolo.

Agree, Cerundolo and Etchevery are the ones who disappointed me the most and destroyed my draw. Baez was also 2 sets up and still lost.

Definitely tought Etchevery could pull an upset or at least make it hard for Tsitsipas.

That's what I say, about the suits! In fairness, he didn't say he brought one, or more, but he was wearing one, and I don't think a 6'7" guy can buy a suit off the rack, even in the couture capital of the world Good point about doubles or mixed, too.

I don't mind the idea of appealing to younger viewers with young commentators, but some producer needs to take them in hand and tell them not to just talk over the points, at the very least. And keep the extracurricular nonsense to a minimum.
