According to Jon Wertheim and other journalists, Charlotte figures prominently, not just as the next finals site ( what would be its nineth in 10 years ) but in the ' big picture future' of the WTA. ( IW is the venue this year for WTA Finals, due to the cancellation of the remaining contract in Saudi Arabia due to the war in and around the region,)

Serena Williams is expected to play in the up coming WTA1000 Toronto, although no confirmation whether she will play singles or doubles or both, sister Venus already has a singles wild card according to Jon Wertheim. Personally speaking it will depend on the recovery of Serena's knee, which she tweaked at Wimbledon and had to have a lot of fluid drained from her knee, lets see.

I think I have to go with Charles Barkley most famous quote about aging athletes .. @DarthFed and @Federberg know what I am referring too.

WTA 250 Athens Open Hard court,

Good to see Q. Zheng entering a lower grade tournament, she needs match confidence, still not to her high level after having elbow surgery, she was going out in 1st rounds in higher grade tournaments, she has a good game on the hard courts got a SS win over Bouzas Maneiro

AP
Your girl Parks is also entered in this tournament and won her 1st match in SS

Clara Tauson is the Top seed and again after going out early in tournaments after being injured needs more match play, her game also suits hard courts

First time I've seen the tech breaks down on al courts at once - in Athens. The most spectacular was in middle of a deciding tiebreak. Well well
Play has now been suspended for over 20 minutes. Final stats -look how many breakpoints Tauson got

Solid win from Clara in her first match Hoegren, her first match in WTA250 Greece tournament, good prep for Toronto at the WTA1000 in August

You are nice - Clara had a very faulty gameplay and the breakdown of the electronic system made it an unforgettable match - but she won and it was a good preparation for further hardcourt events and a plus for her selfasteam

Remember coming from grass to hard court players do have to make some adjustments, Clara has a solid game on the hard courts, winning matches, even ugly sometimes, is better than a loss :)

AP,
A total collapse from your girl Parks in the WTA250 tournament in Greece, was leading 4-1 in the 1st set against Hontama from Japan current ranking #202, Hontama winning 76(4) and has a break in the 2nd set, quite frankly I cant watching this Hot Mess of a match from her anymore!
Just SB the match Parks won the 2nd set 62, lets hope she dosent do a collapse like in the 1st set, going 3 sets now
Parks came through winning the 3rd set 75, she can count herself lucky

thanks MM... Her mental game goes walkabout for lack of a better word unless she is playing against a top ranked WTA player like Sakkari or Leylah

If the WTA made Charlotte the permanent site for the WTA Finals, I'd definitely go one year. My brother lives nearby there, and my first nephew's birthday (November 15) is right around the WTA Finals.

Lets see if it is the permanent site for the future WTA Finals, I personally like the idea of the WTA Finals being held in different places in the world, as fans at least get to see the Top of the Womens tour played, eg in Europe, I dont know if many fans would travel to America if Charlotte was the permanent site just my opinion
Actually a great idea would be to hold both the WTA Finals and the ATP Finals together at the end of the year, though both the WTA and ATP would have to agree, eg like a shared tournament, which does already happen in the tour.

Hoegren

I was just SB Clara's match in Greece
Safe to say she has improved on her first match giving her opponent in the 2nd set a bagel?
