When assessing seasons as a whole, it is like careers: the end results are what matters, not the eyeball (subjective) determination of level of play. All three seasons are very similar, but in every metric I've applied, 2008 is always third. But again, very close.

So I might agree that in 2008 we saw Rafa at his very best, but that doesn't make it his best season. That's determined by the sum total of the year.

Just as many believe Novak's best form was in 2011, but 2015 was an overall better year.

Agreed! Nadal's best is definitely between 2010 & 2013! He may have had a good 2008, but it wasn't like we should have been surprised! He already owned Fed lock, stock, & barrel when Fed's better seasons were assisted by others upsetting Nadal before he could be taken out yet again! Roger had been near perfect winning 3 of 4 majors in '04, '06, & '07! How long was his run going to go? IDK why it is this is never brought up! No matter how many great seasons Roger had, Nadal still relentlessly stopped him; even on his beloved grass in 2008! It's been the Tennis Intelligentsia romanticising the Fedal rivalry when it never really was a real rivalry! It took a racket change & Novak being "on the shelf" 2017-18 for Roger to have any consistent success over Rafa! Sincaraz has a chance to be a nice rivalry, but it won't have the staying power as they're already breaking down physically well B4 30 yrs. old! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:
