Well this is good news, AP you owe me, remember when I suggested that Ivan Ljubicic would make a great coach for FAA well he has hired him. I am certain Murat will be happy with FAA choice.
Ljubicic is expected to balance his coaching duties alongside his ongoing position as a special advisor of the FTT

Arthur Rinderknech has withdrawn from Shanghai Masters with an abdominal injury, he was runner up in last years final, he will leave Top 50.
Kovacevic will move into the draw, after Rinderknech withdrawal

From what I read in danish newspapers (and his Instagram) he has withdrawn from all tournaments the rest of 2026. Sad

Congrats to Sascha, though, on the least-earned YE #1 ranking in tennis history, after the two least-earned Grand Slam titles.

That is so unfair; almost slanderous! The only reason it's an issue is b/c it's today & Sascha wasn't pushed very hard, w/ little opposition in his 2 Major wins due to Alcaraz & Sinner being injured, upset, or on ext'd breaks to relieve health issues! There have been weaker YE #1's that's for sure, but taking 2 Majors at least put him above Murray's efforts in 2016 wnning just 1!:fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face:

Ugh, what a disaster.

“Me, together with the doctors, have decided that I need a course of treatment on my knee, which means that the 2026 season is officially over,”

They finally decided he needs a "course of treatment?" What the hell has he been doing the last few months?!
From what I have read from the Italian media, he has been undergoing treatment in Turin and then when to Lyon in France for another consultation? where media said he might have to have surgery?
Sinner has always kept his cards close to his chest, and even when he withdrew from Shanghai said nothing
Okay let me see what I can find out and quite frankly I am not surprised he has closed down his 2026 season

According to Sky Sports Italy ( a media outlet that I trust) Jannik went to see Dr Bertrand Sonnery Cottet in Lyon for another opinion, who is a world renowned expert in knee treatment. He advised Jannik to keep doing therapies to cure his tendonitis, IIBS and to rest., there was no need for surgery.
Jannik stated that he has to think about his long term career and he will do everything to get back to the court in 2027

Fiero is the Donald Trump of tennis fandom. We laugh with him and at him. But I love the guy.

Really, what he is trying to mask is not only the fact that Andy Murray wrestled the #1 ranking from Novak, but Novak underwent a rather epic collapse.

ATP Ranking points on June 20, 2016 (before Wimbledon):
1. Novak Djokovic, 16950 (career high)
2. Andy Murray, 8915

In other words, Novak had almost double the ranking points as Andy, +8045, with half the season left. Novak was coming off the most impressive year and a half span in Open Era history:

Paris Masters, 2014 to Roland Garros, 2016:
  • Five of Six Grand Slams won, one Final
  • 17-4 out of 22 big event finals played (4 Slams, 1 TF, 12 Masters)
  • 135-9 record (93.8 W%)
That second one is particularly impressive, imo: He played in 22 big events, reached the final of 21 of them, winning 17 of them. Just ridiculous.

So that's where Novak was after winning Roland Garros. After that he went out in the 3R of Wimbledon. He did come back and win the Canada Masters, but then went out in the first round of the Olympics, lost in the US Open final to Stanimal, lost in the SF of Shanghai, QF of Paris, and then the Tour Finals final to Andy.

Meaning, after that same Roland Garros, Andy won Wimbledon, Olympics Gold, then he lost in the Cincy final and the USO QF, he won his last five tournaments--Beijing, Shanghai, Vienna, Paris, and the Tour Finals--to steal the #1 ranking away. Of course it probably ruined him--or at least hastened his end--but it was one of the most impressive surges I've ever seen.
