Isn’t he more focused on performance enhancing banned drugs…Ala Sinner, etc.

Though Coke could help on a high BH volley…..; )

The USO draw is going to be very interesting.. We know already that Novak is gonna get a bunch of cupcakes the first 3 rounds. Carlos is gonna get screwed with a draw where we are gonna say, its a fixed draw even though we know is a supposed to be random draw. I guarantee it.

Or Djoke gets the cupcakes but it doesn't matter because one of them comes to play and takes him out anyway. It could happen. He gets stretched to a 5th set where anything can happen
Let's face it, any draw will be tough for Chuck. He has no current reps. He'll have to play himself into form.

Here's a weird thought. Zverev has earned more points at Slams this year than anyone else:

4100 Zverev
2850 Sinner
2200 Djokovic
2000 Alcaraz
1710 Cobolli

Unless he goes out in the 1R or 2R and Novak wins the USO, that lead will hold for the full year.

The closest thing I can think of to Zverev's year at the slams is 1999 Agassi (especially if Zverev wins the US Open) - same age and having a career year at the slams. Plus, like Sinner, Agassi's next best competitor Sampras won Wimbledon for his only slam of the year, and missed the US Open.

Carlos can’t catch Zed?

Phil answered the question, but to speak more generally, he can - but it will be really hard. Year's the Race rankings:

For big titles, there are 5500 points remaining: US Open, Shanghai, Paris, Tour Finals. Then you have up to two 500s and scattered 250s.

But assuming a player plays all big events and two 500s, that's 6500 points. Zverev is +3000 on Carlos, so Carlos would have to hugely outplay him. It is more likely that Zverev catches Jannik than Carlos catches Zverev.

Huge Challenge for the 23 year old Alcaraz? Definitely…however

At 35 years old Federer hadn’t played a sanctioned event in 6 months ( IIRC played a couple of Hoffman Cup matches) when he won the 2017 AO.

Again it is and isn’t about the draw, if Alcaraz can survive the first few rounds of the USO relatively unscathed perhaps the rust will take care of itself. Conditioning is a factor but I just don’t see any player he actually fears in the draw ( respects, yes) , so…

Fonseca officialy out of the US Open, not recovered yet from the abdomen injury the put him out of Cincy. Plan is to be back at the next Davis Cup round, then go to Asia. He won't drop that much in the rankings, as he had only R2 to defend.
