In the final of WTA500 Stuggart Ostapenko d Sabalenka 64 61 it was her first win over Sabalenka in four tries, she played well all tournament, I must say Sabalenka was flat and her usually good serve went AWOL, taking nothing away from Ostapenko at all., she defeated No 1 and No 2 seed, Ostapenko will move into the WTA Top 20 rankings with this win

In her first round match at the Madrid Open, Naomi Osaka lost in 3 sets to Lucia Bronzetti 64 26 64,, Bronzetti played the big points better, Osaka has never been a excellent clay court player, but she still can win matches on clay, last year Osaka was a point away from victory over No 1 Swiatek and 3 time Roland Garros champion. Maybe Osaka should have played a smaller clay tournament to get more practice, before entering Madrid.

She won't hear of it. She's as stubborn as an ox. She doesn't play enough. She hasn't played since she lost early in MIA. There's been at least 3 tourneys and over a month of dormant activity.

Quite frankly I dont see Osaka staying on the tour for that long coming back from maternity leave, she said earlier this year if she dosent get to a ranking she is pleased with she might as well retire., I know she has had her injuries, back and abdominal, currently ranked at No 55, of course she needs to play more if she wants to improve her ranking.

Good to see Andreescu back on court, after her emergency appendix operation, ( in February), her first win since October 2024, she played some terrific points, just an reminder of how well she can play through to the next round 62 64 over Kessler
Andreescu will play Rybakina in her next match
