I found this comment from Eala, a bit surprising , the WC that did well at the Miami tournament this year, she was playing a smaller tournament on clay the Oeiras Ladies Open where she was the top seed and lost in the round of 16 in straight sets to Udvardy 76(4) 64,
Eala stated she grew up on hard courts and needs to get better on clay?
Didnt Eala spend 7 years at the Rafa academy I am certain she would have got plenty of practice on clay courts there!

Emma Navarro won the 2nd set 63 over Ostapenko
Going 3 in Stuggart
3rd set both players broke each others serve early, Navarro had her chances, Ostapenko too strong in the end
Ostapenko d Navarro 75 36 62

Sara Sorribes has announced she is take a break from professional tennis, she dosent now if it is temporary or permanent, she said she needs a break mentally and physically.
Because I don't trust the the governing bodies. How do we know she's not serving a silent ban?

I meant to post this earlier. Diana is suffering her sophomore slump. Girl won 3 titles last year. Can barely get out of R1 this year.

Well we dont, though she posted a long post today outlining her reasons, so until we know more, all we can do is take her on her word.
Sara last played a tournament April 1 in singles losing in the 1st round, then 5 days later won the doubles title in Bogota with Cristina Bucsa

Early days with new coach Safina, let see if she can get Diana out of this slump, she can play well on all surfaces

At this point it looks like Ostapenko's main mission on a tour is to beat Iga, anytime anywhere. What a bizzare H2H.

Being indoors was a big factor for Ostapenko as well, I wasnt surprised she won, players know how to beat Iga, especially on a faster surface, going hard and flat into her fhand wing. Ostapenko extends her H2H 6-0, Iga and her coach Wim Fissette were watching Osta's last match as well, it really didnt help her in the match.
A cool handshake at the net from Iga! she isnt a Happy Camper at all
Osta has defeated Iga on all surfaces with this win today

Ostapenko after beating Swiatek,
" She's a great clay court player as well. But you know, I won the French Open.So I can say the same thing about myself" :)
BTW,
Osta's W/L record in 2025
Tournaments where she faced Swiatek 8-1
Other tournaments 2-8

Iga Swiatek has to defend 4000 points in the next 3 tournaments, she is under a lot of pressure, there is a risk of even leaving the Top Ten by June
In her match today she did have a chance to win this match, why take a bathroom break when having momentum after winning the 2nd set?
4 2nd serve returns missed 2-4 in the 3rd set, which she should have made? Iga is one of the WTA's best returners, Ostapenko does really live in Iga's head!
