Well, I was very happy to see Nole beat Roger again, but dealing every day with watching my father age, it was also little sad to see how badly Fed went away. And I don't appreciate it being called condescending.

... and how it affected Novak, which you even admitted above.
I 'admitted' that Novak was affected? Are you kidding? Did I also 'admit' that the sky is blue?

OK, I'm sorry, then. I thought Roger put up a good and interesting fight. While it lasted. I didn't find it sad. Different POV.

Maybe it is wording... while I was ecstatic that Nole won, I was sad to see how badly Roger went away in those last couple of games.
Prolly better than saying "it" was sad.
DarthFed said:Roger isn't beating Nole on slow courts without a very high 1st serve % and a day where the forehand is clicking and relatively clean. Even then it will be tough, he is the big underdog in matches like today. Given how poorly he served and how erratic his forehand was it was a surprise it went 3.
The way Roger is moving and hitting the backhand is great though and gives him hope on fast courts this year. Until then I just hope he doesn't overplay during the clay season. Indian Wells/Miami, clay, etc. are not good tournaments for him at this point, he quietly hasn't won on a slow/medium paced court since 2012 Madrid.
DarthFed said:^ True, but I think a lot of him fading physically today was due to circumstances, he made a furious comeback in the 2nd set and that zapped a lot of his energy.

Going to have to hope for a Nishikori/Raonic/??? to break through somewhere or we could see a calendar Grand Slam.

Well, there's a lot to be seen for how the comeback goes, but may I submit to you Rafa Nadal? He's done very well against Djokovic in Slams. (9-3 H2H in favor of Nadal in Majors, with the 3 for ND coming during his one fantastic run.)![]()

Well, to be perfectly honest, that's the last thing I want to see! But I never count the Balding Bull of Mallorca out!
