Sinner would be crazy to take on a schedule like that. Ask Sir Andy Murray who destroyed his hips chasing Nole for #1.. Sinner has zero threats to dethone him from the top ranking
It isn't quite the same, though. Andy overplayed mostly by playing--and winning--two ATP 500s after the USO. That's 10 extra matches that he played over what I'm suggesting should be Jannik's max.
Meaning, in a normal year, After Wimbledon, Andy played (and won) the Olympics, skipped Canada but played Cincy, then the USO. But then he played and won two ATP 500s and two Masters before the Tour Finals.
Or we can look at Jannik's schedule post-Wimbledon the last two years, with number of matches played through Wimbledon:
2024 (45): Can (QF), Cincy (W), USO (W), Beijing (F), Shanghai (W), Tour Finals (W), Davis Cup (3 matches). That's 34 matches after WImbledon, or 79 on the year.
2025 (29): Cincy (F), USO (F), Beijing (W), Shanghai (R32), Vienna (W), Paris (W), Tour Finals (W). That's 35 matches after Wimbledon, or 64 on the year - and that's due to missing a bunch of time early on due to his ban.
So far he's played in 47 matches this year, just a bit ahead of 2024's pace. That year he still played both NA Masters, the USO, an ATP 500 "warm-up" to Shanghai, then skipped Paris before the Tour Finals.
What I'm suggesting is that he could still play the seven remaining big events and not overplay - if he doesn't add in ATP 500s. That would be a max of 34 matches if he won all seven, or 81 matches on the year. Just 2 more than 2024.
Oh, Andy played 89 matches in 2016. But I suspect his play that hear just hastened the inevitable...his injury was probably due to years of his grinding style.
