All players direct their shots towards Gauff fhand is it her weakest shot, I have never like the 'extreme grip' she has on her fhand, she can also be late arriving on her fhand wing and she just slaps her fhand back into error
AP do you have an opinion of Coco's extreme grip on her fhand? I think you and I have had discussion with this in the past?

Round of 16 matches,
Bottom half of the draw,

Paolini (13) vs Eala (29) Eala leads their H2H 1-0, this is their first meeting on grass

Noskova (9) vs Keys (26) First meeting

Kostyuk (12) vs Krueger Kruegar leads their H2H 1-0, this is their first meeting on grass

Bouzkova (21) vs Mertens Bouzkova leads their H2H 2-1, this is their first meeting on grass

Note:
May I add American woman have had good results at this years Wimbledon so far, Gauff, Pegula, Keys, Kruegar still alive in their draws.

Just to back up my theory the losses that Sabalenka has had since her engagement,

Lost to Baptiste Madrid QF
Lost to Cirstea in Rome R4
Lost to Shnaider in RG QF
Lost to Pegula in Berlin SF
Lost to Osaka in Wimbledon R4

Losses for Rybakina who I also believe is facing relationship issues with her Coach/BF Vukov,
These are the losses since April 2026,

Lost to Potapova in the R16 in Madrid
Lost to Svitolina in the QFs in Rome
Lost to Boutler in the QFs at Queens Club
Lost to Eala in the R16 at the Berlin Open
Lost to Mertens in the 3R at Wimbledon

Yes we have discussed it in the past..Coco’s problem her racket head speed. She changes it which produces the errors unlike Iga or Novak who currently still does it as well as anyone. (Sinner and Carlos Alcarav are the tops in my opinion) . she is reluctant to commit to hitting her FH only when stressed. Coco likes the underhand changed of pace FH to force an UFEs from her opponent so she can retake control of the point. I think she gets in trouble when she is in openstance. Coco’s best weapon is her speed.. I know you think Iga speed is equal but it’s not at elite level combined with her superior quickness. Coco is extremely young and doesn’t have the injuries that a young Serena had started to get at that age if I recall. When Coco is focused she can problem solve by making her opponents hit another ball which means she can break you down. I would say just enjoy her youth as long as we can because it is something special. I think she knows she can beat Jess by making her hit one more ball because Jess can’t hit through Coco’s defense. Yesterday’s Coco as she said was her best match of the tournament. Will that version of Coco show up is the question?

So in essence what you are saying it isnt the extreme western grip on her fhand its her racquet head speed on her fhand? if she changed the extreme grip on her fhand would that be a better alternative to get more racket head speed ? allowing her flatter shots, while also helping her strike low balls? I feel this would help Coco especially on grass

I’m saying I think it’s Coco’s shot selection…your suggestion may help her cut down on a few more of UFEs..Coco’s game isn’t to hit through her opponents but the wearing or breaking down their strokes. As you say she’s a defensive player. That’s who she is. I hope that answers your questions.

That is not Going To Happen Phil Get Real LOL! and take those sunglasses off there shading your thinking as usual :)
Coco on grass is still very No No btw she took 3 sets today and her FHand is still going AWOL
Eala can get hit off the court with a big first strike player
I never said it was going to happen. All I said is that it would be a ratings dream for ESPN. Eala making the final probably isn't realistic at this stage, but then again, we just had Chwalinska make the final at the French Open out of the blue.

Anything is possible..the top of the WTA food chain is gone..even a guppy like Eala or Lil Jaz can survive in the ocean now since the GW sharks are not swimming around

I think one of the most fundamentally sound tennis players is lil Jasmine.. I dont know if because she is smaller in statue than the other ladies but her serve, BH and openstance FH is spot on.. Just a player that has a beautiful game to watch..

I still personally dont like Coco's extreme grip on her fhand, we will have to agree to disagree thanks

At the moment Jazz isnt playing to her level, she said herself she has been struggling level wise, she needs to win this match, as I said I was surprised she made it this far at Wimbledon
