At 19yo Mirra Andreeva is the new RG Ladies Singles Champion the youngest champion since Monica Seles in 1992
Well done Mirra !
Bad luck to Maja Q, who played well and was a fairy tale tournament, making the final, you just came up against Mirra who was just On Her Game today
Andreeva d Chwalinska 63 62
BTW
Maja will rise to world no 21, she came into this tournament at 114#
Mirra will rise to No 6, moving up 2 spots

I might be jumping in early I am already making my selections for the grass and Wimbledon
Mirra is a player that can win on the grass, and lets not forget her coach Martinez knows how to win on grass and also coached Murgurza to win Wimbledon in 2017

Trophy presentation just started with Mary Pierce handing out the trophies to both players
A lovely speech from Maja, saying that Roland Garros will always stay in her heart, well Maja you showed great heart for 3 weeks at Roland Garros!
A lovely speech also from Mirra, thanking her team, and last but not least she thanks herself and believing in herself as a player and as a person, working hard the last 2 weeks :)

Anyway I am going to bed for once I will get a good night's sleep as it is 1.30am here in the morning
I have been really impressed with Mirra's "new found focus' at week at RG, a new great maturity for Mirra, her first GS title is just the first for Mirra a child prodigy who of late has really shown her potential

Talk later!

Congrats to Andreeva.

A bit anticlimatic end to RG on women's side. Plenty of good matches in earlier rounds and I kind of lost interest by the time SF and F arrived. I haven't watched any of those 3 matches. Looks like similar pattern on the men's side.

Surprise here and there is good, but I prefer to watch top players in the end. I don't think people were lining up to watch this and certainly not many people will be too interested in Zverev Cobolli.

Don Hi!

I hear you regarding watching top players in then end of tournaments, especially GS
Lets face it this RG has been 'whacky' with the top seeds, eg, Saba, Rybakina, Gauff and Swiatek all bowing out
Clay is a surface that finds you wanting, both physically and mentally, the top players to me were 'caught out' this year, with overall poor play and their mental approach was lacking. prime examples Saba and Rybakina!
The silver lining for me was watching Andreeva during this tournament she has a Complete Game, physically and mentally she handled the clay and deserved her 1st GS title.

Andreeva gave a lot of credit to her sports psychiatrist.. She said she spoke to them as recent as the semi.. ALL the players if able should have some to talk to them because the pressure is so great.. I am glad she is honest and fore coming

Yes she did AP, Mirra has had focus problems for over 1 year after she won those 2 WTA 1000 titles, her focus went, that led to frustration, though I knew with the help she had around her, she would get over the problem and she did, she was fully focused and committed all tournament during RG

I never forget the match my baby Hingis had at RG vs Graff.. Martina got into her beautiful feelings that day and the fickle French crowd jumped all over in a match that she was dominating.

I opted out of paying for the extra streaming service and glad I did.. I saw the highlights of the match.. I was just thinking too bad for little Jasmine had such a horrible RG as did others. She could have won today or made it more competitive. Yet i give credit to the two ladies , one lasted the entire fortnight and the ladder lasted 3 weeks which is insane.

Jasmine was carrying an ankle injury into RG this year, quite frankly Jazz overall play from the start of this year has been sub par sad to say, she has turned 30 and I think we have seen the best of Jazz, though she continues to play doubles with Errani, though because of her ankle she didnt play doubles at RG this year

I think she can bounce back.. I remember years ago watching her in the early rounds of matches.. the lil babyface lady who had the Pete Sampras statuette serve form. I was so happy that she weathered the storm and became a top ten player.. Jasmine is fundamentally sound.. not a lot can go wrong with her a game unlike Saba and Coco's games.

Lets see, she has lost her game AP, pushing shots etc, changes of coaching hasnt helped her game, she brought on Sara Errani as a coach as well, , quite frankly her game has gone backward, also the ankle injury hasnt helped her cause from Roma to RG this year

I have my fingers cross.. she is everything so far that a tennis role model needs to be. She seems like she comes from good stock!!
