The final is set @britbox.

It's David vs. Goliath.

Is the final going to be a formality, and an expected coronation for Mirra Andreeva?

Or will Maja Chwalinska complete the ultimate Cinderella story, and become the 2nd player (after Emma Raducanu at the 2021 US Open) to come from qualifiers and win 10 matches to win a slam?

I haven't a clue who wins - I've hardly seen Chwalinska outside of this tournament. From the little I've seen on and off-court she seems a delightful grounded young lady. I quite like Andreeva too. I'll predict Andreeva in 3 but don't really have any idea and I'll be happy whoever wins.

I posted this before Baron,

Mirra will have to be patient with Maja, she has a crafty game that upsets the rhythm of players, as we have seen in her previous wins over players to make it to the final
Mirra has shown great focus this year at RG, she will have to continue that focus in the final or she could come unstuck

BTW Maja who entered RG as a Q ranked # 114 has jumped to No 21# in the live rankings! just Wow!
Also Maja has had depression issues in the past, kudos to her finding a way to get over her depression issues.
If Maja wins her new ranking projected ranking will be No 14 !

On Saturday a new Grand Slam champion will be crowned which will feature two first time Grand Slam Finalist's
" 19 year old Mirra Andreeva vs Maja Chwalinska , a Polish qualifier breakthrough. History on the line"
Mirra Andreeva has been in consecutive Grand Slam semi finals at Roland Garros, this is her first chance to win a GS title, remember to, Mirra has won more matches this year than any other player ( to date).

These 2 players have contrasting styles,

Mirra has a powerful serve and great extension through her ground strokes, to attack, she has pace, depth and spin

Maja uses a more varied approach to disrupt players rhythm and get them out of position, Maja possesses a deadly passing shot, rather than try to blast the ball past her opponents, she does create opening.

It shapes up to be an entertaining contest!

Good luck to both players who deserve their spot in the final!

NOTE:,
Having turned 19 only 5 weeks ago Andreeva could become the 3rd youngest player this century to win a women's singles major title after Raducanu aged 18 at 2021 USO and Maria Sharpova 17, at Wimbledon in 2004. Should she prevail against Maja on Saturday would become the youngest womens singles champion in 34 years, after Monica Seles in 1992.

If Maja Chwalinska wins, one of the most breakthroughs in tennis history, making her as the 2nd qualifier in the Open Era ever to win a GS tittle ( Raducan won the 2021 USO as a qualifier) and become the 1st quailifer to win the French Open.

As much as I expect and would like Mirra to win tomorrow, however this qualifier Maja is very scrappy.. I dont know how much she has left in the tank. I am not sure that a qualifier has EVER won a GS. That's probably 9 matches she has played thus far.. Mirra better not take her lightly , Maja is a ball player meaning she puts foot to ball from what I seen in the highlights like Iga did before she became full of herself with yesterday's lunch/dinner.. I dont expect a bagel or breadstick unless one of the ladies get caught up in the moment. I doubt either one of them are sleeping at this moment and probably are cramming like its final semester exams yet I doubt either one of these ladies ever went to high school or any advance education.

It would be quite the fairytale should Maja pull it off. I've just been reading up on her. Seems she was doubles partner of Iga in the Juniors. I didn't realise she'd had those depression issues and taken so much time away. She's 5 years older than Mirra.

It would be a Fariy Tale come true
I mean who at the start of RG has ever heard of Maja, not the Polish player who I thought could win another RG title.,defending champion gone in Gauff, No 1 and 2 seeds also gone and also 4 time RG title holder Swiatek

Maja cannot get her first serve in, Maja has both legs taped that is a hindrance to anyone's serve, you need your legs to Drive Up
Another break of serve
Mirra breaks she leads 2-1

French love a underdog and they have full support for Maja at present
Smart serve from Maja a body serve into Mirra
A break for Mirra as Maja slice finds the net
The wind is just playing havoc with shots, though using slice in the wind isnt a bad idea, and also taking some pace off your shots
Mirra serving with new balls and she leads 4-3
Great rally at the net by both players, a great volley with back spin from Mirra
Mirra leads 5-3
