Zverev broke early in the 4th set and will probably win this match in 4 sets
If he cant win this title with this soft draw he probably never get the chance again quite frankly, hasnt faced a top ten player
Mensik is worthy enough for top 10 status though. Even if he's battle worn. But I co-sign

flexing to look cool/alpha. Sasha was about it as he closed out the second set :D

I think the injury time out disrupted his flow in set 3, but he got back on track well. That might be the single most impressive thing about his win tbh

"Aura farming" is basically openly advocating for praise. Think a certain US president. Increasing one's "aura."
I also looked the meaning up
curating your habits, style and body language to project an aura of effortless, charisma, mystery or coolness, advocating praise
You learn something new every day I guess :)

Mensik Press Conference:

Leo AI Summary

  • Overall Perspective: Despite the disappointment of the loss, Mensik views the tournament as a "great experience" and a success, particularly noting the achievement of reaching the semi-finals in his first Grand Slam appearance.
  • Match Dynamics: He described Zverev as a "tough guy" who didn't give away free points, making it difficult for him to find his rhythm or get into his "zone." He felt like he was "hitting a wall" due to Zverev's deep positioning and consistency.
  • Physical Condition: Mensik reported feeling physical discomfort from a stiff left neck during the match, which limited his movement. He clarified that it was not a serious long-term injury but a temporary issue that contributed to his struggle to maintain his game plan.
  • Momentum and Tactics: He acknowledged that momentum was key; although he had break point opportunities (specifically three chances to go up 5-3 in the first set), Zverev converted his own chances and maintained control. Mensik felt that with better shot selection or different tactics (like serve-and-volley or drop shots) on a different day, he could have won.
  • Future Outlook: He expressed confidence that his game is competitive with the top players, feeling that he was close to winning on this day. He plans to look back on the two weeks positively once the immediate sadness fades, proud of his resilience in overcoming tough moments in previous matches.
  • Respect for Opponent: Mensik gave full credit to Zverev, praising his ability to keep his rhythm and momentum, noting that Zverev serves at a high percentage (75% first serves) with great speed (around 200 km/h), making it incredibly difficult to attack.

Zverev Press Conference

Leo AI Summary
  • Upcoming Final Opponent: Zverev will face Flavio Cobolli in the final. He expressed happiness for Cobolli reaching his first final and noted their strong friendship, mentioning they discuss everything from tennis to films.
  • Match Reflections: He described the match as his "most difficult" of the tournament, especially after losing the third set. He credited his ability to stay calm and his improved second serve (winning 2 out of 3 points on it) for the comeback victory.
  • Injury Concerns: When asked about Cobolli resting his semi-final due to injury, Zverev said it likely wouldn't give him an advantage, noting that he felt fresh himself. He also mentioned seeing Cobolli in the locker room looking unwell, showing empathy for the situation.
  • Past vs. Present: Reflecting on his 2020 US Open final loss, Zverev highlighted a major improvement in his second serve, which was a liability back then but is now a strength. He also noted he has maintained a top-3 world ranking throughout his recent struggles, keeping his belief strong.
  • Friendship with Cobolli: He detailed how their friendship grew, particularly during the Laver Cup in Berlin (2024) and through interactions with Cobolli's father. Despite the age gap, they share a genuine connection and mutual respect.
It seems a significant moment for Zverev as he returns to a Grand Slam final after a long gap, facing a friend in a high-stakes match.
