LeoAI Transcript Summary

Anna's post-match interview after reaching her first Roland Garros quarterfinal:
  • Achievement and Emotions: Anna expressed pride and disbelief at reaching her second Grand Slam quarterfinal, noting the match was a long "roller coaster" that she is still processing.
  • Managing Nerves: Contrary to her initial comments that she wasn't nervous, she admitted to feeling nervous until the very last point. She described physical symptoms like heaviness in her legs and upper body, as well as breathing issues, which she manages by resetting and focusing on breathing.
  • Clay Court Success: She attributed her strong performance on clay to a relaxed mental approach with no expectations, combined with growing experience and comfort on the surface over the years.
  • Match Dynamics: The match was highly physical. Anna felt she ran out of energy after leading 4-1 in the third set, while her opponent fought back bravely with incredible shots and retrieving ability.
  • Future Mindset: Despite reaching the quarterfinals, Anna plans to maintain her "zero expectation" mindset and simply enjoy the experience.
  • Historical Context: While this was a special match (her first Grand Slam tiebreak and playing on a big court against a friend), she considers her recent Rome match—where she saved nine match points—to be the "craziest" of her career.
  • Language Skills: The interview concluded with Anna demonstrating her ability to handle questions in multiple languages.

Saba was very composed and calm on the court tonight. I think she was fully confident in herself. There was no panic when she was down a break in the beginning. It was high quality match from both. Osaka put up a good fight, but couldn't keep up towards the end. As we discussed her legwork can be slow at times and Saba used it to her advantage.

Saba is coming more often to net and added some variety with dropshots. She seems more tactical on the court and matured as a player. She used to hit the ball as hard as she could and when things go south, hit even harder.

These great expectations of Serena playing singles at Wimbledon AP, I would not be surprised if she plays doubles and mixed doubles not singles

Serena is on Ozempic. She's gonna show how slim she is now...it will be fun to see her. Let's see what her level will be.

I am just making sure that we dont get our expectations too high with Serena and then get disappointed that is all
I Love Serena full stop and I am happy she has decided to come back, especially on the grass

After Saba's great win ( which by the way I predicated) she sent out a strong message to the rest of the tour
Saba let her emotions get in the way of the final at RG in 2025, hopefully she has learnt that hard lesson and will be fully focused for the rest of the tournament!

QF Matches,
Bottom Half oif the draw
Tuesday 2nd June,

Kostyuk (15) vs Svitolina (7) H2H 1 All,

Marta is unbeaten on clay this year, Elina won Rome, I feel who ever is more 'clutch' on big points will get across the line

Andreeva (8) vs Cirstea (18o) Andreeva leads their H2H 1-0

Mirra is definately the favorite here, but the way Sorana is playing you cant rule her out. What has impressed me with Mirra is her composure and for her to win it will have to continue that way, she has won more clay matches this season than any other player, the youngster has a
complete game".

The first QF match

Andreeva (8) vs Cirstea (18) BTW Sorana was asked seeing she has been playing some of the best tennis of her career, is there any chance of not retiring at the end of the year? the 36 yo said she still plans to retire, has been enjoying her tennis so far this year

Andreeva won the toss and will receive. Roof is closed
Mirra is a great returner of the ball, moves well and reads the play well
Mirra has BP, great bhand return from Mirra and she breaks
Mirra consolidates and leads 2-0
Mirra with 2 BPs, really anticipating the shots of Cirstea and returning well
Mirra breaks again and leads 3-0
Mirra off to a wonderful start. leads 4-0
Mirra will serve for the 1st set 5-0, like a Steam Train, all Sorana can do is hope she has a dip in the 2nd set
Mirra is also a solid doubles player and it shows when coming to the net, with soft great hands
Mirra 6-0 1st set in just 21 mins, Mirra her focus is extremely high hasnt put one foot wrong

Finally Sorana gets on the board in the 2nd set
Sorana just started to get herself in this match now leads 2-1
Love service game from Mirra levels 2 all
Great hands from Mirra cutting off the pass from Sorana even Martinez Mira's coach stood up and clapped
Mirra with 2 BPs and a bhand down the line
Mirra leads 3-2
Mirra with some unusual UFE pushed the over head long she should have waited
Good serve saves 1BP
Sorana breaks as Andreeva fhand committed 3 UFE
Great movement around the net from Mirra a great fhand volley
Mirra with 2 BPs
Mirra breaks back immediately as Sorana's fhand netted
Mirra with a love service game and she leads 5-3, except for a little blip when she got broken she has been 'on song' and great composure as well
Mirra redirects and produces a down the line bhand winner
Mirra with 2 MPs
In under 1 hour Mirra makes the SF at a GS for consecutive year both have come at RG
34th win of the season more than any other woman on tour

BTW,
Andreeva passes Gauff at 19 yo as the teenager with the most main draw wins in Paris this century
Won 20 of her last 23 matches
Well done Mirra d Cirstea 60 63!

This is a different Mirra we are seeing. I think she can challenge Sabalenka for the title. In the past, she would have laid an egg in this situation, being a heavy favorite deep in the tournament. Not today!
