Swiatek is starting look like she fell off a cliff and landed on an open manhole, which she fell down, and landed on a drain that she’s currently circling with her eyes wide open staring into a volcano below.

She’s putting me in mind of this chap:

Swiatek was never as good as her stats say. She benefitted from perfect timing. She reached her peak as the old guard (Serena, Halep, Kerber, Wozniacki, etc.) were heade out the door. Not to mention, the player who would have otherwise dominated the era (Ash Barty) retired abruptly. Swiatek was there to take advantage of it.

The fact we're talking about Svitolina as a possible contender for the French Open shows how weak the women's game has become. The 2019 version of Serena beat Svitolina 6-1, 6-2.

Phil
Get off your high horse okay I am sick and tired of your coming on here and repeating Time and Time again the womens tour is Weak
For starters You Cant Compare Different Era's There Are Too Many Variables okay??
At least the womens tour at present is more Interesting than the mens at present with only 2 players Alcaraz and Sinner winning the silver ware in the Mens Tour
Again you have become Montonous and Boring!

Okay back to the 2nd set Mirra v Jill
Jill making too many UFE and Mirra taking advantage she leads 3-0
Mirra leading 4-1 and is 2 games away from making the QFs the youngster can play on clay
Jill has become a UFE machine
Mirra breaks to love and will serve for a place in the QF
Mirra has 2 MP
Jill saves 1 MP with a high lob
2 MPs come and go, back to deuce for Mirra
3rd MP for Mirra
Jill with a good volley.....deuce
Jill with a BP
Jill breaks and wjill serve 2-5
OPh what a bhand volley drive from Mirra and brings up MP No 4

Mirra d Jill 63 62 and makes her 3rd consecutive QF at RG, she is only player that has won more clay matches on the tour at present
Mirra will play Cirstea in the QFs dont count out this young player she has a complete game and variety, also a solid doubles player, she partners with Shnaider

I think the only one who hasn’t completely figured Iga out is Coco..but that’s because she has no confidence in her service or FH..this is the resume tournament for a lot of players . I just hope all can stay healthy so they can compete at their highest level..I still think Ash may return.

We're about to see how much Mirra has grown. She has been in this position before, as the highest seed in her half of the draw, but she hasn't been able to take advantage of the opportunity.

Progress would be at least making it to the final.

Order of Play,
Round of 16 matches,
Top Half of the draw,
Monday 1st June,

Potapova (28) vs Kalinskaya (22) Kalinskaya leads their H2H 2-0. though their last match was August 22,. I would not rule out Potapova, Kalinskaya is a 'known head case' when trying to close out matches.

Keys (19) vs Shnaider (25) Keys leads their H2H 3-0, Shnaider hasnt dropped a set so far, Keys has played well, should have closed out Mboko in straight sets last match.

Parry vs Chwalinska A First Meeting, Parry the only Frenchwoman left in the singles draw, will have all the support in this match

Sabalenka (1) vs Osaka (11) Sabalenka leads their H2H 2-1, this match will be played at night, conditions will suit Sabalenka, as Osaka got a lot of free points in the warm day she faced Jovic, at night her serve will be neutralized. Sabalenka usually prefers day matches, I feel it will benefit her to be at night,

Kalinskaya came from being down 2 breaks of serve 1-4 and then won 5 games striaght to win the 1st set over Potapova, 64, Kalinskaya is a solid ball striker, though sometimes gets down on herself, if things dont go her way, still I was impressed how she fought back to win the 1st set 64
