Thanks AF
I am still having computer problems and now back online
Kostyuk played a very controlled set of tennis, she also is a excellent athlete and deserved her win today, she really has been playing well all clay season and is still undefeated this season!

Oh well I feel we have to now put Kostyuk in the mix as a potential GS title winner at RG now, this is Kostyuk 2nd major QF
One of the things that amazed me with Iga was her fhand usually her strength was woeful and went AWOL in the match.

Just announced that Sabalenka v Osaka match will be the Monday night match on Chatrier, first for the women this year

Bencic v Svitolina match
Bencic has won the 1st set over Elina, 64
Elina with 2 BPs in the 2nd set
Bencic misses with the drop shot and misses, Elina breaks
Elina with 3 games in a row now and leads 4-1 2nd set
Elina return game has improved out of sight in set 2
Elina with 2 BPs, Elina too many options as Bencic took care of that drop shot
Elina with 1 BP, Bencic redirects and absorbs pace, back to deuce
Elina with another BP, great bhand winner from Bencic,
Bencic holds tough after saving BPs
Elina 5-2
Elina will now serve for the 2nd set 5-3
Elina making UFE as she struggles to serve for the 2nd set
Bencic breaks and we are back on serve in the 2nd set
Bencic to serve at 4-5
Great aggression off the fhand from Elina
2 SP for Elina as Bencic making ufe in her service game
Elina wins the 2nd set 64
Going 3 sets, Bencic off for a toilet break

Svitolina will serve first in the 3rd set against Bencic
Bencic getting up to the short balls well, and she has 2 BPs
Elina saves 2 BPs with a great Ace down the tee, deuce
Great serve again from Elina and she holds serve
Elina with 2 BPs and she breaks Bencic
Elina 3-0
Bencic 2nd serve has always been her weakness and Elina taking full advantage
Elina breaks and leads 4-0 in control of this match now
Elina reeling off the games now leads 5-0
For the life of me why hasnt Bencic tried to get her 2nd serve better in her career
Bencic with a DF
Elina with MP
Svitolina d Bencic 46 64 60
Well done Elina! into the QF,

Kostuyk played good against Iga, but in my opinion Iga didn't play well at all. Not to take anything from Marta. Iga is trading downwards fast. She is still playing without patience, spraying errors left and right.

Good recovery from Svitolina, as she is cruising now in the 3rd. It will be 2 Ukranian women clash in QF.

2 players from Ukraine into the QFs
Elina also now has to be a strong contendor for the title, remember she won Roma title before RG, a good indicator for me how a player will play at RG

Do you think Elina has a shot at this RG. She did win Rome and the draw is open. I just don't fancy her chances if she gets to play Saba. Don't know their H2H, but something tells me numbers are on Saba's side.

Anyway, Svitolina still has a lot of work before she can think about the final. was she ever in GS final? I think her best is semis no?

Don,
I always take a player that has won Rome, before RG, as a player that could do well at RG and Elina has done that
I am also including Kostyuk now as a player that could win RG this year as she is still undefeated on clay
Lets see who wins the QF match out of Elina and Marta which will give a strong indication of making the SF and making the final at RG

Sorry AP Saba wont be losing her match to Osaka....dream on my friend :)
Saba recently defeated Osaka on clay in Madrid and she leads their H2H 2-1
Saba has her eyes set on winning RG, she is still the favorite in my eyes and others :)
Saba is the most consistent winner on tour at present
BTW lets not forget Andreeva she has been playing well, and has racked up a lot of winning matches on clay this year, the youngster has a great game

Swiatek is starting look like she fell off a cliff and landed on an open manhole, which she fell down, and landed on a drain that she’s currently circling with her eyes wide open staring into a volcano below.

She’s putting me in mind of this chap:

Saba is the favorite and is the number ranked player on the tour.. Naomi has made some major adjustments in her game and she is a bad match for Saba similar to Rybakina .. Osaka is brewing with confidence and she looks hungry. It should be EPIC

Kieran, Yes she is very strange bird but when her tennis is focused, she is amazing to watch as a player..I saw this same Naomi battle Su-Wei in Cincy a few years ago and she is back to that level.. She has that same look in her eyes we saw in Rafa dealing with Roger and Novak dealing with the two of them. We shall see
