I'm sick after this, and I'm a Leeds fan. I can't stand these Saudi-oil manufactured clubs, winning a farmers league in a stroll then arriving fresh and dandy to face a real club in a CL final. Arsenal played 63 matches this season, most of them in the toughest league in the world. Some PSG players played more CL than league matches, cos the league was over soon as the oil poured in..

Arsenal was just too passive though...almost 80-20 possession for PSG. That will not do. You have to initiate a little.

Yeah, but I think that’s their style, solid in defence. They’re not the most entertaining, but you’re right, best form of defence is attack.

True but with PSG's style of play, they pretty much guarantee the other team will not score. So they are happy passing the ball around and look to see if they can find a break. You cannot score if you don't have the ball.

In some ways the worst thing for Arsenal was to score so early. There was a long time to go, hard work playing that great strangling style. If they’d won it would have been reminiscent of great Italian style defending masterclasses. Overall, wasn’t a match for the neutrals. Let’s hope the World Cup is one for the ages..!

Is he more like Klopp? I still think Slot was hard done by, but that’s modern football. Apparently he lost the dressing room..

Slot lost the fanbase not just the players. I think they would have given him another year but...

I don't think he's like Klopp in a personality way... who is? but I think his football ethos is probably in that sphere.

Yeah Klopp was probably the much better fit when that player died, Diota? I think he’d have known how to help the players grieve while also stirring them up to play..

I don't think you can use the Jota death as an excuse for a season of poor football. Maybe the first few games, where bizarrely they got decent results despite playing quite poorly.

I’ve seen a lot of mention of Jota though (I forgot his name above), that the players struggled? But then, against this, they started the season very well. It became mysterious after that. I think it became difficult for Slot when a senior and loved player like Salah went into open rebellion. I have to admit, Slot was very dignified in that situation. Ferguson would have demoted Salah to the level of apprentice…

Despite all the underlying grumblings, the real rebellion only really kicked in after Salah announced his departure. It was more of a public sulk before that - after not getting picked etc... Slot's bigger problem was the fans couldn't see what the hell he was doing. At least with Klopp (before he was winning things) you could see what he was doing and the trajectory the club was on.

Yes Ferguson would have done that... but from a position of power having won a boatload of trophies. Klopp would have been able to do it too if necessary... but Slot hadn't developed that power base.

Yeah he was clearly in decline last season, and then he scarpered mid-season to the African nations Cup. How the heck did they think that was a clever event to have in a World Cup year? I don’t blame him for going to this, but Slot still had a club to manage. I’m still surprised he was sacked but I suppose that from within the club and among the fans, they’re watching a side that was great floundering..

Traditionally Liverpool are a club that gives the manager time... and from the outside Slot winning a Premier League should really magnify that. I do get it.

At that level it seems strange, but the football was frankly shit mate... and the drop off this year was huge. Something like 17 losses in all competitions? It was a pathetic defence of the Premier League, I think the stats showed the players ranked about 19th out of 20 in covering ground (don't quote me on that - I'm paraphrasing a little) - but let's just say the work rate was below par. Klopp would never have presided over that. It felt like Slot was trying to implement a shitty version of Pep football with Klopp players...
