Grass has been Sinner's worst surface historically. Let's be honest, Sinner got lucky in winning Wimbledon. If not for Dmitrov's injury, Sinner likely has another earlier than expected exit at Wimbledon. (To be fair, the same with Novak at the AO with Musetti getting injured.)

If we get a healthy Novak against Sinner at Wimbledon, I'm going with Novak every time. The only players that I'd give a chance against healthy Novak at Wimbledon are Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Juan Martin del Potro, Carlos Alcaraz, and maybe 2006-2011 Nadal. Sinner is not as good as those players on grass. Again, like the Dmitrov injury, Sinner got lucky that Djokovic was compromised at match point in his quarterfinal. When Djokovic was healthy in 2023, he won in straights over Sinner.
Give it a rest Phil yes you cant stop reminding everyone that Sinner got lucky in Wimbledon last year
Your like a Bloody Broken Record Move On,! It is now beyond 'Monotonous" other posters said the same thing ( eg Moxie) btw stop living in the past it is now 2026!

The only players that I'd give a chance against healthy Novak at Wimbledon are Roger Federer

Old, past prime Federer had two match points against Djokovic in their last match at Wimbledon. The one before that it was 7-5 in the fifth. In 2019 at least Federer was playing really well, the one before... far from it. Bottom line, saying that Federer had "a chance" against Djokovic is a stretch. On grass, with both at their peaks or close to it , it is Djokovic who would have a chance (maybe).

Definitely agree with you there. The fading version of Roger was very competitive on a much slower grass court (which favors Djokovic) twice, in 2014 and 2019. I'd have to think that prime for prime, Novak doesn't come close to touching Roger, especially if they had to play in the faster grass courts that Roger had when he was untouchable from 2004-07. Novak (the 2011 version that beat Rafa in the final) might have a puncher's chance on the slower grass court.

El Dude, if you are around,
I just listened to Gill Gross 2026 French Open Power Contenders he had Jodar at no 8
Sinner 1
Zverev 2
Djokovic 3
Ruud 4
Medvedev 5
Fils 6
Shelton 7
Jodar 8
Cobolli 9
10. Darderi

It is Gills latest podcast before he does his usual picks for Roland Garros, he also selected a couple of players that did not make his Top Ten and gave reasons why, eg Fonseca was one player that missed out.
It is a good podcast to listen to as always

Sad and Breaking News,
Arthur Fils has withdrawn from Roland Garros, just getting more details
Persistent pain in his lower back and hip sad to say
Fils said he wasnt prepaid to take the risk of playing due to the fact her had been off the tour with lower back fracture, wise decision he is still young and better to heal than further risking more time off the tour

Yeah, I listened to most of that. Bummer about Fils. He seems to gather momentum for a jump up, then get hurt.

I'd agree with Gross to put Jodar in there around that range, and to leave Fonseca out. Maybe he becomes #10 with Fils out. Maybe.

I have watched Q Buse for most of the week in Hamburg
He has a strong serve, really solid bhand, likes to dictate play and enjoys attacking, not your typical clay court player
This is his first ATP title on tour
BTW Buse makes history for Peruvian tennis
" I didnt expect it all to happen so quickly".

Seasoned sports chief to lead Tennis Australia,
NRL CEO Andrew Abdo has been appointed Chief Executive Officer following an extensive global search
Abdo will succeed Craig Tiley who announced earlier this year he will depart Tennis Australia to take up the position of Chief Executive Officer of the USTA

I would like to see Medvedev vs Sinner in the semifinals .. that would be probably the second best match next to Sinner vs Novak

Interesting post by Pat Cash regarding Australian tennis. Any thoughts from our friends in Australia?

May I say this appointment from a man who was in charge of Rugby League ( football) in Australia totally blind sided me and others quite frankly,
Sam Groth a former player apparently was also on the list for the position, he recently left politics, a lot of players and ex players thought Groth being an ex player could save the heart of tennis, with local clubs dying and the high cost of training a player etc
Lets see if Abdo who apparently ran Rugby League with success, can transfer that kind of success that is needed at the Grass Roots of Tennis in Australia!

It seems a strange fit, doesn’t it? Team sports are very different to tennis, but if he can get kids playing, that’s a start. Pity they had nobody from within the sport to do this, but if he succeeds, fair play to him, eh?

Jannik Sinner has booked himself into a medical room at JHotel in Turin, which is where Juventus players have their medical checked according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Quite frankly I didnt want Jannik to play Madrid, he isnt a robot and I knew he wanted to play Roma his home tournament, I felt his body hit " A Wall" at RG, which I feared, and my worst fears came true, as he was going for his career slam.Jannik said he isnt blaming the warmer weather in Paris, he woke up on the day to face JM Cerundolo and felt 'flat" and congratulated Cerundolo on his win, he also said he has had a great run so far this season winning the Golden Slam Masters, he will get a worthy rest and be back for the grass at Wimbledon

The dates for the 2028-2030 Wimbledon Championships have been announced (it looks like they aren't going to move 2028, so as it stands now, players might have to choose between Wimbledon and the Olympics): https://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/the_championships/dates

The Championships 2028 will take place from 3 July 2028 to 16 July 2028.

The Championships 2029 will take place from 2 July 2029 to 15 July 2029.

The Championships 2030 will take place from 1 July 2030 to 14 July 2030.

That’s going to leave players facing a choice between greatness and glory. I hope Carlos chooses greatness…
