Then with so many first round exits, she risks tarnishing her achievements in singles. But could still be formidable in doubles.

I don't see it that way. Nothing she does now can take away what she's already accomplished. She's a 1st ballot HOF when she finally decides to quit. These matches don't change that, nor should they.
