He struggled in the 7th game. He held his serve. Later he hit two winners to take the first set. How many times has a player come out blasting and put a champion on his heels to begin a match? A champion finds a way to win; everyone's free to call it theft if they like. Roger's pasting him out there now.
Sampras was more dependent on his serve than Roger. And even then his ground game was pretty fierce. That forehand wasn't chopped liver. A bit harsh to say his success was just the serveThat's how Sampras became the GOAT for about 5 min.! It was all about the serve; specifically his 2nd serve!
