Rybakina did the same thing last year. The opponent she gave a walkover to was Noskova. If this is an omen, then Fernandez would be 2027 Wimbledon Champion.
I am fully aware Rybakina did the same thing last year, I dont believe in Hypotheticals/Omens full stop

Ladies Singles Final,
Sunday 1st November,

Shnaider (3) vs Fernandez

Shnaider leads their H2H 3-2 and has won the past 3 meetings, all 3 victories came in straight sets
The last time Fernandez took a set was in Wuhan 2024.
It will be a ' battle of the left handers' for the title in Tokyo.

Ladies Doubles Final,

Dabrowski/Stefani (1) vs Errani/Paolini

Shnaider won the 1st set 64 over Fernandez dominating on serve ( winning 82% of first serve points and face 1 BP) while converting 3 of 4 BPs.
Forgot to add one of my favorite umpires Barry White aka Kada Nouni is the umpire for this match
Fernandez was down a double break in the 2nd set and has fought back well, still needed to raise her 1st serve % to get some free points, her serve can be a weakness at times, something she needs to improve
Shnaider will now serve for the match at 5-4
Shnaider being a bit too passive allowing Fernandez to get up the court
Fernandez with her 3BP good use of the slice
What a fight back Fernandez breaks, Shnaider was leading 4-0 in the 2nd set
Fernandez never gives up without a fight, Shnaider needs to forget about her last service game and concentrate on the match at hand
Best Drop Shot of the match from Fernandez sneaky with lots of spin landed just inside the line
Shnaider will now serve to stay in the 2nd set 5-6
Fernandez playing with confidence now, bhand winners and angles on the lines to both wings, and breaks Shnaider to love, wins the 2nd set 75
Going 3
Fernandez has all the momentum going into the final set

Big hold by Shnaider she was down love 40, missed opportunity from Fernandez
Suddenly a shift in the momentum, Shnaider playing more aggressive tennis, quite frankly she had to and breaks
A couple of UFE from Fernandez and Shnaider holds to love and leads 4-2 in the 3rd set
Shnaider with 1BP and she breaks, and leads 5-2 and for the 2nd time today will serve for the title
CH point for Shnaider

Title No 6 for Diana Shnaider defeating Fernandez 64 75 62, after not being able to close out the match in straight sets she bounced back to win in 3 sets. This is Shnaider's first title of the year, though she has been consistent making SFs this year in some tournaments. Good fight back from Fernandez in the 3rd set too many ufe crept into her game when it mattered
Shnaider will move up to a live ranking # 12 and Fernandez moves up to a live ranking#19 up 4 places from #23

Errani/Paolini upset the No 1 seeded team of Dabrowski/Stefani 62 62 to win the Doubles Title in Tokyo
