I see Rune got thru, but FILS didn't as he's a walkover to Rublev! Typical; used up all he had to win those 1st 2 matches! Altmaier's moving along nicely after upsetting Fritz in the 1st Rd.! He's very impressively moving along barely giving up sets! Paul's not going to make it working this hard to just get to the 4th Rd.; 14 sets so far! What an idiot! He's better than that or I thought he was! :astonished-face::angry-face::yawningface::fearful-face::anxious-face-with-sweat:
He got injured in his last match in his back (Fils). He had MO and struggled a lot in the 4th and 5th set.

I was little worried for Rune today, but he came out good in 5 against the Halys. Musetti will be a huge challenge, but my money is on the Dane in this one.
He lost focus with the incident with the spectator in the 4th set. He should be better than that.

What does Ruud have to do with this. We're talking about De Meneur
I know but Ruud said the same after his match. That the season was too long and the rules made you need to play even if you're injuries and didn't have time to rest.

This is why it pays to do research and not believe everything out of someone's mouth. The GS are not part of the bonus formula. So if you're injured, you could skip those and just lose whatever $$ you would have earned based on the round you exited the tourney.

Coincidently, while Alcaraz fights off Džumhur, TCC's playing that QF match from Australia! Novak was whinging & stretching his leg in the 1st set! I wonder how many pathetic "haters" out there think it was something he faked and made up at 37-38 years old? Carlos is supposed to be the next "GREAT!" We'll see if his body holds up long enough; same w/ Sinner! :fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face::angry-face::anxious-face-with-sweat:

It doesn't matter if he faked it or not. It didn't stop him from winning the match. The opponent has to focus on their side of the net and not worry about what's happening on the other side. If anything, as cruel as it seems, make that person move even more if they insist on staying out there. Why make it easy for them to win?

Carlos could have been out of this match in straights, but went on a mental walkabout. Credit to Dzumhur for starting to play some great tennis, but still. Johnny Mac was unimpressed by the medical timeout. Anyway, it's finally over.

Chuck had way too many errors. About 44 in this match. Way too many for a 4 set match. He'll need to tighten that up if he's serious about defending his title.

Well no one was impressed w/ the MTO. Players know the deal and they need to block that out and execute. Some folks are not good sports and use MTO and potty breaks to disrupt momentum. All the more reason to focus and whip someone's arse for that crap.

It seems to work for both men & women! That break for an injury, bathrm. brk., or even to change clothes really bothers some opponents! Remember Murray lost his mind at the 2021 USO vs Tsitsipas who took too long! He went on to lose the match to Stefanos in 5 sets! There was a 1991 clay event on Amelia Island for the ladies! Graf was pounding the ball, making Sabatini look slow! Gabriella took 2 breaks to change clothes, totally throwing off the momentum of Graf who we know will run you off the court playing so quickly! By the end of the match, Graf literally resorted to a 2-handed-BH Sabatini's bckhand was looping so deep at hers! Gabby won it in the end 7--5, 7-6 after being down a break in both sets! :face-with-hand-over-mouth::face-with-tears-of-joy:

All I know is that the fall portion of the schedule needs to change to keep me interested. There's really no incentive for me to watch the fall schedule if things stay the status quo and not really much is at stake.

I think there needs to be a playoff system, like they have in NASCAR (with the Chase) and golf (with the FedEx Cup). The Top 32 in the standings after the US Open advance to the playoffs. Then, maybe after the Shanghai Masters, we have our first cut to 16, and after the Paris Masters, we cut down to 8 for the ATP Finals.

That Halys matches was a mini drama, take the 3rd set with both players tied at one set each, Little Holger survived a breakpoint at 3-4, then went on to break Halys to go up 5-4 & serving to go up 2-1 in sets. Straightforward no? Well no, as Halys broke back & ended up winning the set 7-5.

Halys is up to a career high # 46 in the ATP computer ranking & playing before a home crowd so this was tougher than it first appeared on paper for Rune.

Looking forward to Little Holger & Musetti, should be a fun match.

Fonseca is getting a lesson from Draper, Sinner gave lessons too and Griekspoor got a big scare but got the job done. Interesting matches tomorrow...
Musetti - Rune
Alcaraz - Shelton
Rublev - Sinner

Fonz needed a lesson! He was getting so much praise for such a young kid! His head had to blown up twice the size; esp. after his TCC Desk interview the other day! Draper looked so small sitting at the desk after his win! What did they do, put him on a stool? He's a lot bigger & stronger I'm sure! With other winners of Masters outside of the Big 3, he's a solid #4 in the world after winning Indian Wells! Who would have thought? Djokovic to start soon! It's a nite match! Hopefully it won't be too tough, but he needs the workout! :fearful-face::angry-face::astonished-face::yawningface:

You poor Fedal fans will have to deal w/ McEnroe absolutely slobbering over Novak calling him "The GOAT!" He started w/ him "speaking 6 languages," then went on to how his opponent must be feeling playing against him! Djokr has a good chance to get back to #5! :face-with-hand-over-mouth::yawningface::fearful-face:
