The match between Kerber v Bouchard will be their first meeting on clay.I will have to favour Kerber in a closely contested match

CSN is playing good clay court tennis I feel she will be too strong for Tomljanovic.I must say I was impressed with the way Tomljanovic defeated Radwanska.

Muguruza v Parmentier.Muguruza continues to impress me,even though the French Crowd will be cheering loud for Parmentier.Muguruza to win

Sharapova v Stosur....we all know the script in this match up.....Sharapova with the win.

I hope Sharapova wins the French now. I'm not a fan of random one-slam wonders winning these titles so hoping for a Maria-Halep final.

I don't think some of the still-contenders are necessarily one-slam wonders, though a Sharapova-Halep final is compelling. Kuznetsova is still in, and she's won the French before. Jankovic has been pressing for a Slam title for some years now, Errani is tried and true on clay, and Bouchard and Muguruza are both proving to be serious competitors, in terms of the young guard. I don't think it would "tarnish" this year's RG if any of those others should win. And I think it would be presumptuous to assume, if they did, that they'd be one-Slam wonders.

Moxie629 you show a lot of Moxie in this comment and rightfully so!:clap Great analysis, how can one say that Bouchard, or Muguruza maybe one shot slam winners, they have years to hone their skills. Sveta is on a roll and she likes the red clay of the French Open, Maria should now have a chance at the title logic says that would stand to reason now, with so many of the other high ranked players having departed from Paris. I will be pulling for Eugenie tomorrow of course, Kerber can be formidable, but if Genie has a chance to move her around the court she may have a chance to upend the German.

Thanks, rubydo. Means a lot coming from you, as I know you're a student of and commentator on the game. Obviously, Maria is an impressive competitor, and she sees a clear path to a Major title. She's hard to bet against. But the tournament has opened up hugely, and it'll be very interesting to see who all, amongst the women left, has some real mustard. Even if Maria were to win, I'll be interested to see who is really willing to fight hard for it. This is a bit of where the rubber meets the road for the undercards. We'll see who can most embrace a chance.

I really doubt Maria can keep the current form, someone NEW will win!

Bouchard is spanking Kerber so badly it looked as though she was about to cry. Then Navratilova says the very same thing. :snigger

6-1. 5-2 and Bouchard serving for the match.

Absolute destruction of Kerber by Eugenie. Worth getting out of bed for at 2am, 6-1, 6-2. First serve % fantastic, Kerber had no answer. Can Eugenie go one step further, after this thrashing of the German?? At3:07 am I shall now return to slumberland!!:clap

Bouchard d Kerber 61 62

Genie executed a great game plan, she was aggressive, taking the ball on early, also looking forward coming to the net and finishing the point .Loved the way she changes direction.Kerber had no answer for Genie today,Genie didnt allow her into the game at all.Kerber looked very sluggish to me on the clay

Congratulations Genie.....Rubydo and Rose will be delighted with your strong performance today.

You gals and guys are sleeping on CSN. She is quietly demolishing her opponents and steadily moving forward. Not sure who she plays next but it will be competitive.

^ Bummer, it's going to be Bouchard. And I like both. I've long liked CSN, and actually, I thought she'd burned bright for a while then didn't make much noise, so I thought she was just going to settle for mediocrity, but she's back to winning of late.

^ Actually I will be torn in that match CSN v Bouchard....CSN has been playing good solid clay court tennis in this tournament.I must say I was impressed with Bouchard's win today. It should be a competitive match.

This will be a battle! As mentioned before I saw Carla play two years ago and she was ranked around 43rd in the world. She looked mediocre as Moxie stated, in fact lost to another Canadian that day Stephanie Dubois. Today, she would likely demolish Steph, because her game has improved so much. Eugenie has a good chance here too, simply because she has nothing to lose and everything to gain. She remains the consummate cool cucumber or for a Canadian a cool "ice cube"! It's a toss up but I have to go with EB!
