Surfin' by the Alcaraz/Fritz match! Carlos continues to show his vulnerability in playing just about anyone! He had a huge lead in the 1st set, then preceded to drop a dozen straight pts. B4 righting the ship & forcing a TB! He continued making inexplicable UFE's, but Fritz w/ no real weapon to hurt him persevered! The UFE monster was switching sides all match! Fritz still in the running for YEC! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Fritz win a massive and tightly contested first set 76(10) against Alcaraz by capitalizing on crucial breaks chances, Fritz stayed aggressive and punished Alcaraz for missed opportunities on key points in the extended set, quite frankly Alcaraz was his own worst enemy in that TB
I said yesterday if Fritz's serve holds up well, so far in this match it has, and his aggressive return game off the baseline he is in with a chance to defeat Alcaraz
Fritz breaks Alcaraz, Alcaraz 2nd serve is poor and Fritz has returned it well and has broken
Fritz leads 5-3 2nd set and is just a few games away from making the ATP finals in Turin
Fritz with MP again the 2nd serve of Alcaraz is poor
Alcaraz finds his 1st serve in the nick of time, back to deuce, Alcaraz holds
Fritz will now serve for the match at 5-4 and for a place in the ATP Finals in Turin or course no pressure :)
Crap, when Fritz needed his first serve? and Alcaraz breaks
5 games all
Fritz finds his return game and has a BP, back to deuce Alcaraz serve holds
Fritz will now serve to force a TB in the 2nd set
Again when Fritz needed his first serve it deserted him? and Alcaraz wins the 2nd set 75
Going 3, I feel Fritz needed to win this in straight sets, he had the momentum and let Alcaraz back into the match
Oh well Fritz had his chances and blew it, really a mental midget !
Alcaraz serving for the match, notes to oneself never count out Alcaraz, we have seen this movie before :)
Alcaraz d Fritz 67(10) 75 63

Jodar takes the last spot in Turin as Fritz has to win his match against Alcaraz to qualify

Good God, if Jannik was healthy he would defeat this mob with his slippers on best indoor hard court player presently
Sad that he could not play Turin as he was going for a 3 peat undefeated

It was a fun match. Alcaraz shows again he plays best tennis when under pressure.

He can lob an opponent with his eyes closed. So good feel for the ball.

I thought Fritz had the match then I remembered Don we have seen this movie before with Alczraz he has upside and ceiling under pressure he can produce shots that other players would dare to play

MM is right. We've seen this movie before and in Paris no doubt. It was eerily reminiscent of the RG thriller w/ Red. I was working so I couldn't watch the entire thing. Saw most of the first set and that was it. I was thinking after giving that TB away, he didn't deserve to win and Tay would get to Turin. Checked in after work to see he'd won. Watched the replay last night on TC.

So when is JCF taking over? I still see Shelton's dad in the box.
By the way, people keep saying these are some of the fastest courts yet my TV makes it feel like the courts are slow as molasses Do I need a new TV or there is some sorcery going on here?
