They won’t be able to move George until 2028 trade deadline at the earliest. He is making $50 mill per year the next 2 years.

I don’t think there is a clause. It’s just his contract sucks. He is making $50 million each of the next 2 years and has player options both seasons. Boston might be able to move him during the 2028 trade deadline since he will have an expiring contract.

It’s hard to believe that was the best trade on the table for the Celtics. George is always hurt and far from a superstar at this point when healthy.

I think there's a lot of cope in this. Some of these folks are acting like Jaylen Brown is some unruly black guy. I think JB had a specific issue IN the Celtics. He believed he was just as important to the squad as Jayson Tatum, and frankly the Celtics conceded that by paying him supermax money, their actions proved it. It's never been that he thinks he should be the number 1 everywhere he goes. This is some kind of twisting of narrative that almost sounds like the "angry black guy" trope. JB will be just fine, and be a team player in Philly. The fact is that every time there was a shiny object for Boston to look at (KD/Giannis), they always dangled him, never JT. That's all it this ever was. I hope JB goes there and crushes it. Frankly I think the 76ers won the trade, that's a decent haul.

Exactly! And I’m shocked Stevens and/or others are basing much on that. White is a very good player, but without JT they needed Brown to put up nearly 30 because no one else on that team was going to average 20+. The team overachieved last year without JT, no one thought they’d be a legit contender last year. Common sense says Brown had a lot to do with that.

Makes me wonder if they really meant it, or if they are trying to get his trade stock up after a mediocre or really slightly subpar year. Things will be fine if the C's have a back-pocket trade in line, such as 1st rd. picks + Derrick White, which could be a very enticing possibility for a team.
