I certainly agreee the Celtics deal would have been better for the Bucks. I think there is this fixation with a lot of franchises for picks. Unless that franchise is exceptional with picks, getting a ready made star makes far more sense. For that reason the Bucks should definitely have grabbed Jaylen Brown with both hands. I think that Miami squad, at least the starting line up is formidable. The only shaky bit is Devion Mitchell, not sure he's good enough as point guard but absolutely every other spot is superb. And they have Spo. So I think barring injuries they will be a very very serious contender next season in my opinion. When I think about teams that might consider going for the picks? OKC, SAS, Houston? Can't think of too many more who generally nail it with their picks.I'm not really sure I like the deal on Miami's end either. This better work out for them because they pretty much gutted their future for this, by trading their young guys, and their early 2030s picks. By the way, the Dubs could not have made that deal, as they already have traded away their young guys (Jordan Poole, Kuminga, etc.) and are stuck with a very old core.
The Celtics deal is the better one, and would have helped both teams. Milwaukee would have gotten a proven star with Jaylen Brown, and the Celtics are a contending team, and they could have paired Giannis with Tatum. Miami isn't really a team in contention, and probably should start a rebuild, instead of trying to be the Warriors of the East because I get the feeling this probably isn't going to work out for them.
