An article by the man himself, discussing his approach to Amelie, and the aftermath of Lendl...

I'm just speechless. :puzzled

Why so?

First, to be obsessed with looking for a coach so soon before a slam..and not just ANY slam....

Second, I am not sure what Mauresmo can bring to the table....i did enjoy watching her play...btw..but she was a mental midget.

Third, I not sure why he was so obsessed with find a coach...he has a good team...it could have waitd for the summer.

Tell that to Nole who made such a big deal out of taking on Boris Becker as his coach! He also was doing well with his current team, but it didn't stop him from just about waiting for Becker to recover from hip surgery! :nono :puzzled

Well, I thought he's looked somewhat crabby and adrift without a coach, so I'm glad he's got someone he likes in his corner. It may not be more than additional ballast, at this point, but I hope it works for him.

How's Amelie's supposed "mental midgitness" as a player going to impact Murray in any way? He's the one out there doing the playing.

Yep, he did get his head down at Garros for the most part, that may have been because it was a slam on the line or it may have been because he pretty much knew he'd be teaming up with Mauresmo.

There's been a noticeable drop in concentration and consistency in Murray's performances since losing Lendl so I'm glad he's sorted out a new coach, I wish he'd done it sooner, to be honest.

It's tough to tell what's really a result of losing Lendl, and what's a result of the injury layoff and struggles to get back to form since. I suspect much of Andy's recent "disappointing" results are more due to the latter.

It's a mix of both, isn't it? Judging by what he wrote in that article, it seems Lendl dumped him, and it took a while for him to get over it...

Call me juvenile but the phrasing of that sentence made me laugh.

:lolz: It was unintentional, believe me, but now I see it!

Murray has still done well in the slams, I think he has a bit of a motivation problem in the lower tournaments though, today being another example of that.

Good start with the new partnership. :clap

Well not sure anyone is suggesting that Mauresmo is going to turn Murray into a worse player though it could happen. The question is what does she really bring to the table and the fact that she wasn't exactly known as a tough competitor on the WTA tour is one of the factors to consider. If a player hires a coach just for the sake of having a coach it can end up being more trouble than it's worth.
