By and large tv ratings over in the US have been very good, an improvement from 2019:

The audience for tennis’ first Major of 2020, the Australian Open, was up 4% across ESPN and ESPN2 compared to the 2019 event.

On the flip side, here in Oz TV ratings for the mens final was down from last year a sure sign that the audiences here are sick of Novak Djokovic.

On the flip side, it could be because they had no idea who Dominic Thiem was, or they weren't interested in him.

Nope. It's cause the TV audiences here are fed up , sick to the stomach of Novak Djokovic. Young Austrian received a fair amount of exposure after his Nadal win. Believe you me, Mox, TV networks here really does go overboard with their hyping up of key matches and discussions on who's the likely successors are going to be to Nadal or Djokovic.

Unfortunately the Nine network also uses the tennis during their key matches to hype up really stupid dumb shows like MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT one of which is a lesbian couple.
