Swiatek turned things around 46 76(0) 62 v Vekic
Once Vekic wasnt able to close out a 5-2 lead in the 2nd set it did feel inevitable that Swiatek was going to get across the line, a win she pretty much had to have if she's going to qualify for the WTA Finals

Complete meltdown from Vekic in the TB considering she was returning Iga's serve well in the 1st set

Wimby Champ and No 5 seed Noskova, ousted in straight sets by Alexandrova (19) 62 62
Alexandrova dominated on key points, capitalizing on service breaks, also pressured Noskova into committing crucial errors in important rallies
Despite a lower first serve percentage, Alexandrova won 80% on her first serve points and an impressive 77% on her 2nd serve, neutralizing Noskova's return game

Andreeva (4) Muchova (7) and Bartunkova (26) all won their respective matches

I can see Iva taking Iga out. She should've been in Wuhan already if not for Donna's choke job. Coco should take care of Mertens, Zheng and Svito will prevail.

Swiatek d Jovic 61 63 the first time they played each other
Iga too good today, consistent, aggressive, and her defense was 'on song', Iga took charge of the baseline exchange giving Jovic very little breathing room to settle into any rhythm
BTW Not many fans in the arena, I understand it is still early, hopefully with later matches, more fans will arrive
Swiatek will play the winner of Gauff v Mertens in the QFs

Gauff (3) vs Mertens (13) Coco has won all 5 matches against Mertens
1st set Mertens 63, Coco's 4 DFs didnt help her cause at all, Mertens taking the ball early and being aggressive. Lets see how Coco responds in the 2nd set.
Early break for Mertens, in the 2nd set Coco's fhand letting her down, 17 UFE coming off Coco's fhand, her serve is still shaky.
Coco had her chances in Mertens service game, point was on her racquet and she did a Djoko smash at the net! very unlike Coco
Mertens leads 4-1 2nd set
Gauff said to her box, she is not feeling well and dosent have a lot of energy? no wonder she is trying to keep the points short, and is over pressing her shots at times which ends in error
Mertens with a love hold and is only a game away of making the QFs 5-2
Mertens d Gauff 63 63 defeats Coco for the first time in 6 meetings, a good win from Mertens, Coco not at 100%, Mertens deserved her win

Mertens wil play Swiatek in the QF.

Results in the other matches,
Svitolina d Li 62 63
Zheng d Charaeva 61 26 64

QF match between Muchova and Bartunkova this is their first meeting,
Nikola has started really well, she is an aggressive baseliner, moves well around the court and also reads the play well
Nikola has a double break leads 4-0
Karolina had BP but could not convert, and Nikola won her service game with an Ace
20 yo Czech Nikola playing in her first WTA1000 QF leads 5-0
Karolina to date still hasnt won a single point on her first serve, of course as I typed that she has one :)
Karolina finally gets on the board in the 1st set
Nikola will serve for the 1st set 5-1
Karolina playing better towards the end of the 1st set and breaks Nikola serving for the 1st set, still has more work to do
Karolina saved 3 BPs and held serve
Nikola will attempt to serve out the 1st set for a 2nd time and wins 6-3

Nikola started the 2nd set as she did the 1st set, breaking Karolina, her return game has been 'spot on' she stretches easily out wide off both wings to return serve
Nikola leads 4-0 with a double break, I cant see Karolina coming back, unless Nikola breaks down, Nikola is playing with aggression and confidence
Karolina has had trouble with her serve all match and DFs
Nikola will serve for the match 5-0
Well done Nikola into your first WTA1000 SF, you were a pleasure to watch ( remember she defeated Sabalenka)
Nikola d Muchova 63 60, Karolina not much you could do, as Nikola was just too good today

I just finished watching highlights of the 2nd QF between Andreeva v Alexandrova, with Mirra getting her first win, over Alexandrova 76(4) 76(3)
Mirra was down 0-3 in the first set, but had a run of 9 of 10 points and so did Alexandrova
Mirra also down a break in the 2nd set, but fought well to take out the TB and win the match, actually Mirra showed increasing maturity in this match, good to see

BTW, Andreeva will reach a career high on Monday, world No 4, passing Coco Gauff

Andreeva will play Bartunkova in the SF
