Shelton got to be gassed by tomorrow..Big servers need fresh legs to serve those big bombs..if he can’t win free points I don’t think he has a chance against Taylor..Just my two cents worth
Other players had to play back to back because of the weather conditions Shelton just has to Suck It Up and get on with it !

Poor Benny, well you will be pleased to know he won the 1st set 64 and so far he has out played Fritz
As I said other players had to play back to back, he just has to Suck it Up, LOL! fresh legs or not:)

Fritz has reset his game in the 2nd set 62 he did squandered BPs in that first set which he lost 64
Going 3 sets

Fritz with a poor service game DF and hands the break to Shelton who will serve for the match 5-4
Why do Top Ten players vulture ATP 250 tournaments in the 1st place? these lower grades tournaments are for lower rank players to get more points it is a big beef of mine Period!
Shelton wins 64 26 64, bad luck Fritz if you had not squandered those BPs in the 1st set you could have won in 2 sets

Maybe they play these types to build their confidence.. remember when Andre was on the pipe and hanging out with Slim his dope dealing .. he started back playing challengers to work his way back to the top.. Hey I am not knocking Andre, I got a lot of respect for him.. sometimes you gotta Do what you gotta Do

We will have to agree to disagree, Top Ten Players should not vulture ATP250's tournaments, to build their confidence? LOL!
Ben Shelton doesnt need confidence he is the Most Annoying Player in the ATP, In your face, though I think that is a roll over from his College Tennis days.

Why are you jumping on Benjamin.. Taylor's has the same ranking as Ben..You not bashing him and others players who participated in this tournament.. I think there are a few others on this forum will see things this way.. Players needs to build confidence by any means necessary..

Hypocrisy's a known trait of some who just can't help themselves! We get a lot of it politically here in the States! It's sad being a real hater! :angry-face:

I would be very interested to see what @don_fabio and @britbox says about this.. I think @Fiero425 realizes that you need matches regardless of where you can find them to get the feel of the ball.. Everyone (especially our Rafa) can't fall out of the bed like Djoker or Roger to be able to strike the ball without a lot of warm up.. It doesnt mean that Roger or Novak are more talented but their strokes require less tweaking.. That's all I am saying.. not knocking your opinion but trying to explain why Ben, Taylor and other played this tournament.. Grass is the hardest surface to play on to get rhythm IN MY OPINION

You have your opinion and I have mine, and I am not backing down as how are lower ranked players suppose to get their rankings up when TopTen players contest a ATP250 event? I think it is unfair for starters.BTW I am not interested in what Fiero thinks Period okay, lets leave him out of this conversation there is a reason why I have him on "ignore button' as you are aware.
I feel clay is that hardest surface to get rhythm on, coming from a hard court, as I have played both, though in saying that, coming from clay to grass is hard, that is why winning the Channel Slam is the hardest to win in our game, players like Borg who didnt play a grass court event from the clay and he managed fine, won the Channel Slam 3 times in the same calendar year 1978,1979, 1980 the only player Ever to achieve that Feat! and he rented as house at Wimbledon with a tennis court and just practiced there on the grass before Wimbledon, he is and always will be my tennis idol!

Each to their own IMO. But I think the grass court season is a little exceptional in that it's so short, so scheduling and travel will be a factor. The other aspect might relate to appearance fees.

I have always wanted a Masters tournament on grass, I cant see that happening now, the playing schedule would have to expand to allow that to happen and also where in London could they accommodate a Masters tournament? another headache.

Definitely. I think most people would love a grass masters. I don't think Queens has the infrastructure for it - Halle would have a better chance as it's got room to expand - also Germany is a big market that could probably do with a masters.

Germany is now a big market both for mens and womens tennis, a masters tournament would be very popular there.

Just to be clear I am against any Top Ten player including every surface hc, clay and grass, to play a ATP 250 tournament, to me it is unfair for lower ranked players to get their ranking up.

We've talked about this many times, going back at least a decade! It only makes sense to elevate 1 of these grass events to Masters' status!
