I think one of the biggest stories so far this year is the resurgence of Daniil Medvedev. He is playing much closer to his 2024 and before form than anything we've seen in the last year and more.

That said, it is only one set. But even if Carlos wins, I think Daniil is making an unexpected comeback - if not to the top 3, then certainly the top 10.

In a few tournaments, but he certainly played at a much higher level today than in ages, though I haven't seen much of his play either at IW or in Dubai, wasn't it, that he won recently? He wasn't my choice to win today, but if he's going to play like this and put himself back in the mix, I can be happy about that.

Daniil played a great match yesterday. Hitting sharp and deep, lethal shots. Carlos was not at his best, too many UEs on FH side. Showed some signs of fatigue mid 2nd set. Not to take anything from Medvedev, it's really good to see him back. I always liked him, just not the grumpy Meddy.

The main point for me was that Carlos had trouble hitting through Meddy?,apart from his ufe, anyway Meddy has been playing good ball, in Dubai and now IW, maybe changing coaches last year was a positive change for Meddy and it is showing in his tennis.

Such a limited talent! When Milos defeated Nadal, that "inside out" FH had t/b clicking, but he had to be all the way left on the baseline for it to fall in! Anywhere near close to the center of the court, the ball would fly out IIRC! I'm shocked he couldn't steal at least 1 Wimbl. w/ that serve!
