Who the heck is this Japanese kid that took Big Toe for a ride? Rode him right outta here in straights! Look up and see Ferreira in his box. Now it all makes sense, he coached his new charge to beat his old one. Oops Frances.

I wrote our friend @El Dude a message about this player almost a decade ago! Saw him playing a juniors final and thought he could be the next big thing:

"
I got to see some games and the #1 seed, who won the match, impressed me a lot. The kid's not even 16 yet, but it is very, very solid. http://www.tennisexplorer.com/player/watanuki-2b9e2/

He played an american in the final, who seemed to have a lot of talent, but could not keep it and the result was 6x2 6x0. I guess it is pretty soon, but anyway I'm impressed.
"

Turns out I was wrong about his age, he was already 18 at the time. All this time I kept seeing his name in smaller tournaments, it was a long, steady but very slow way up the rankings. Wasn't aware of the injury.

He was impressive last night. His returns were off the charts. He was all over the court and has the softest hands at the net.

The guy you linked to is a different person, I believe - 34 years old, vs this guy, who is 26.

Well, for my money the wrong guy won, but that Dimitrov v. Monfils match was epic! Battle of the old vets.

Mine too. This is one more proof of tennis' unpredictability. The guy in a losing streak, with an aggressive style and recent retirements beats the guy on a winning streak, who loves to grind down opponents on a slow court, in a grueling match. Even after seeing the result I would still bet on Monfils for this one...

Stef got a code violation after slamming his racket which hit Rune's bag
This has been a impressive performance from Rune today won the 1st set 64 and has a break early in the 2nd set and leads 4-2, this is the type of tennis that can get Rune back into the Top Ten, though he needs to play like this and be more consistent in results this year.
What a Sic shot from Rune facing BP and he does a lob which lands on the line lol!

So much for Tsitsipas resurgence. He hasn't really improved, even though he connected a few wins together and won Dubai. His only decent shot is FH, the rest is weak. His serve is too predictable with low 1st serve percentages and the BH still the same. He hits like 1 BH winner per match. Against Berretini it was 0 (nil) and today I think he made 1 winner at the beginning of the match. Rune just keeps exposing the obvious.

Even with a blacked out Babolat racket :)
