Another young guy in the top 100

Diego Schwartzman, now #93. He turns 22 in about a week, but is currently one of six 21 and younger players in the top 100. That's still far below the historical norm, but higher than its been in a few years, I think.

Schwartzman is a dwarf, but I was impressed by some of his play against Federer at Roland Garros. He also put down young Alex Zverev 6-1 6-0 a week or two back, though it's difficult to know how much to read into that.

Just don't get too excited. Bernie Tomic did the exact same thing, jumping from 168 to 71 following the same path QF at Wimbledon, out of nowhere, at even a younger age, 18.
And things looked good for a while getting into the top 30 as a teenager, but look at him now, he is at almost the same spot when he was 3 years ago, ranked 70.

Based on the trend, we will never go back to the historical norm, IMO.

Well, Kyrgios has performed well. He managed to reach R32 which is performing beyond
the level expected as per his ranking.

Indeed. He did that by defeating 2 players ranked above him as well. While the first one was a little bit of a gift by Youzhny, the second over Seppi was a commanding win.

Very excited to see the wins Thiem has picked up this week. No mean feat coming from two sets down against a seeded player at the age of 20, even if it was the wildly unpredictable Gulbis.

Thiem's got spirit. I think both he and Vesely end up being top 20 players, maybe even the lower half of the top 10.
