On the surface that sounds lame...but it makes me think its a cultural thing.

While It may be cultural because of her heritage, every tennis fan know the rules of tennis.. its not a football or other type of non golf event.

Gee apparently you havent been to a 'live' DC match, fans from both sides are rowdy, especially the Spanish and South American fans, even when I did media for Swiss v Aussie some years back, I couldnt hear well because of the cow bells the Swiss fans had everytime Roger won a point same with Wawrinka, Aussie fans screaming out Oi Oi OI, Aussie lost of course, next time I will bring some ear plugs with me
Tennis players just have to 'deal;' with the noise, I mean if it gets over the top, the umpire can ask the crowd to be quiet and dont call out when a player is trying to serve

Jasmine Paolini has withdrawn from Cincy, her focus is now being 100% ready for the USO and the rest of the season as she explained on her instragram page.

I was on IG yesterday.. four different posts on Eala.. Most of the comments about the excessive rudeness of the pro Eala crowd.. MM Check for yourself.. I just dont recall seeing comments like this afterwards other players' match.

I dont have to check for myself I watched the match and I have also watched other Eala's matches
It is up to a umpire to control the crowd full stop, regarding excessive noise or if she/he thinks the crowd is getting out of hand
I was live at the AO this year and a umpire said if the fan who keeps calling out just before the server he will be removed from the arena and he meant it and he will stop the match until security takes him out.. the fan shut up for the whole match after that warning
Its funny Filipino people on the whole are warm, welcoming people are very hospitable I have worked with Filipino doctors for many years here in Sydney they arent rude at all? that has been my findings with Filipino people.

She's been a big deal since she made her mark last year at Miami beating Iga and Keys and getting to the SF's. As for the crowd, I know one way to nip their lack of respect in the bud. The umpire can grant her opponent a first serve if they get rowdy during or between serves. When they see her opponent getting 1st serves, they'll shut their traps will quick. I've only seen one umpire do it. He did it early in the match and set the tone. Afterwards, they were way more obedient and respectful. The truth is most of the umpires are afraid and won't engage the rules as needed.

Correct Keli it is up to the umpire to control the crowd and set the tone for any match period, especially if the crowd gets out of hand.

MM this was not an indictment for lack of a better word on Filipino people but its a large portion of Eala's support following that dont know how to behave and govern themselves accordingly at pro tennis match.. I think a speech like that needs to be held prior to her matches which would be unprecedent but necessary..

I understand it wasnt an indictment on your part on the Filipino people, as I and Keli did state it is up to the umpire to control the crowd full stop, they have the measures if the crowd become too rowdy, a lot of them dont want to enforce sad to say

If you remember AP, the Chinese fans were alot like this when Li Na was a top player. I remember all those tourneys they held in China, the Olympics in 2008, the WTA finals, etc. They were terrible at the beginning. Took them quite awhile to get the rules down and behave accordingly.

After her small surgery Karolina Muchova has withdrawn from Cincinnati,( Muchova withdrew from Toronto as well ) hopefully she will be okay for the USO

Been on this kick of watching vintage matches! Have Goolagong/Evert in Philly back in '76 final on You-Tube ATM! I can so appreciate their skill utilizing those old wooden sticks! Evonne got a little more pace on her shots by what I called "slapping" at the ball! I would "go there" if I took time off & needed an extra little pop on the ball! Timing had to be perfect due to taking full swings on volleys! Evonne def. Chris in these off events, but not at the majors that season! Loved that Virginia Slims Final a couple weeks later! Hard to believe I can still see these matches w/ familiarity at my age! That's 50 yrs. ago in the early Tennis Boom!
