What a set! Djokovic wins in a tiebreaker 12-10. Both Djokovic and FAA are being tested, which will be a huge advantage in the semifinal. Sinner's draw has been an absolute joke. No seeded players yet, and the only player with a winning record that Sinner has played is Brooksby.

Watching FAA trying to serve out the 2nd set, he really plays like he's hoping Novak loses for him. He's so tentative, and he gets visibly nervous on key points.

OK, that was impressive - that long beautiful point to bring it back to deuce, then dominant net play to get set point. Finishes off with an ace. Most balls I've seen from him.

He pretty much has to ace his way to the set.
He just has to PLAY...not think. He overthinks, he gets tight and loses. He has good instincts , he just has to trust them. Thinking is done before the match on the practice court or while watching video. Just turn off the comms and aim for the vent of the Death Star.

no can do. had a layup on SP against and muffed it.

I can be honest & admit, Novak has taken advantage of the lower "Ranks" time & time again just by not giving in when in severe holes! He's had some ridiculous comebacks from :rip: You know about his mythical ones over Roger, but there are others that are hard to forget even w/ my feeble & addled brain these days! IIRC, Monfils had like 5 or 6 MP's against Djokovic in Dubai & lost! Tsonga had 4 MP's in a FO match; both had them collapsing after those lost chances! It's nothing new! Historically no player has been as resilliant as this guy after having growing pains getting by Fedal! His efforts s/b appeciated more as they were assisted by Murray & Wawrinka to keep his totals as modest as they are at this time! :thinking-face::astonished-face::yawningface::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Good Point.. I think he did revert to his non computer screen and use his force to close out the 2nd set.

Novak looks very beatable and may be a bit crampy, but FAA seems to want to give him every chance. Too many easy errors.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! Players "give him every chance" & Novak takes it almost every time! Nadal was a bulldog, but I never warmed up to him even as a junior! Same w/ Agassi, Becker, Evert, & a few others that did nothing much outside of win! :face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face:

This movie has been been running over a decade. People keep watching it thinking there's an alternate ending. Guess what? There's not.

I don't know, this is a much lesser Novak than I've seen. This isn't the Novak of 2023 and before. He looks like he's hurting and tired. A top 10 player playing at a solid level should beat him, but FAA keeps making all these stupid errors.

This version of Novak reminds me a lot of 2022 French Open Nadal. That version of Nadal was a step slower than 2019/20 Nadal, and FAA should have beaten Nadal that day. Watch FAA give Novak the toughest match, and Novak finds another gear against Sinner and wins the tournament. It's almost as if it's written in the stars.

I can see that. Rafa did seem to have slipped after 2020, and it is rather amazing that he managed to win those two Slams in 2022. That said, he didn't have to face a Jannik Sinner in the SF like Novak will, if he makes it through this match.

The script was written back in Jan.! Novak was on his way out of the AO, but somehow got a reprieve by Musetti retiring in his 2nd Rd. match, then Draper WD B4 their 4th Rd'r! He got into the groove & "worked" Sinner in their 5 set SF! All Sascha had to do was finish off Carlos serving for the match in his SF! I believe Novak should already have #25 if the script went accordingly! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Well it helped Novak was banned out of the Aussie Open!:fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:
