I understand that Pegula has won her last 2 over Swiatek but on clay surface this is just another matter all together, not Pegula's best surface
Swiatek on clay just too good for Pegula, a flawless display from Iga, playing with a lot of margin of error. much calmer and confident I have seen her play this year so far
Swiatek d Pegula 61 62,
Just 7 games dropped in her last 3 matches
Raising her level right before RG
4th Rome SF

Both Rybakina and Svitolina are on the court
Neither lady has dropped a set to reach the QFs
The post seems to be working I have been doing the match call on the WTA News post
Elena Rybakina won the 1st set 62 with ease
We have a different match now with Elina Svitolina having a early break in the 2nd set and leads 4-3 in the 2nd set
Elina using slice etc to break up the rhythm of Elena and moving her around the court, which I said yesterday is a good move
Elina leads 5-3
Elina will now serve for the 2nd set 5-4
Elina wins the 2nd set 64, btw Elena had plenty of chances in that 2nd set she didnt take them
Going 3

Elina gets the break in Elena's first service game of the 3rd set
Elina consolidates and leads 2-0
Elina had another break, though Elena has just broken back
That break didnt last long as Elina has broken her again and leads 4-1
Elena breaks again, this 3rd set has become a Break A Thon, though Elina has been good at dismantling Elena's game
Finally Elena holds and gets one of the breaks back
Elina leads 4-3
Elina holds 5-3, if she can pull this off it will be an upset of sorts as Rybakina was the favorite to win this match, but credit to Elina she changed tactics and was flat and not using her feet, on clay you have to keep moving your feet, little steps all the time
Elina will now serve for the match 5-4
Svitolina d Rybakina 26 64 64 well done Elina, Rybakina made too many UFE in the final set, and had trouble holding serve and Elina fought off 16BPs out of 20 she faced a complete turnaround from the 1st set from Elina

First Ladies SF No 1
Gauff v Cirstea
Coco won the toss and will serve, sunny and very windy conditions on court
Despite being up 40 love, Coco loses her first service game? Sorana consolidates the break
Coco hasnt found her range at present, Sorana dictating from the baseline and using her fhand with conviction
Cirstea 4-2
A couple of better service games from Coco now, despite being broken in her first service game.
Coco with a good fhand winner has a BP
Coco breaks 4 all
Coco holds and leads 5-4
Coco with a good slice and gets a SP
Coco wins the 1st set 64

Does this mean that Rybakina doesn’t represent Russian politics in Svitolina’s world?
I think Rybakina changed her flag to Kazakhstan a few years ago. Still, I'm not sure if Svitolina had previously refused to shake hands with her. Either way, I hate mixing sport with politics and think Svitolina is a jerk-ess for her general antics with this handshake stuff.

Good idea spraying the clay court with water during the break
Coco will serve first in the 2nd set and a love service game
Coco with a BP as Sorana not able to Hit Through Gauff at present
A lovely drop volley low from Coco and leads 2-0
A poor service game from Coco and Sorana breaks and consolidates her break
2 games all, a love service game from Gauff
Gauff leads 3-2
A medical episode in the stand and there will be a pause so they can attend to the fan
Play now resumes with Sorana to serve
Gauff breaks with 2 fhand winners
Gauff 4-2
A fhand long from Coco and Sorana breaks back
Coco with 2 BPs, Sorana shots at present all over the place, wants to get out of the rally and not prepared to stay in the rally
Coco breaks and will serve for a place in the final at 5-3
A love service game from Coco 64 63 and is back in the final for a second consecutive year! Gauffs best match of the tournament so far
Well done to Cristea making the SF of a WTA1000 and also defeating the No 1 player in Sabalenka en route to the SF
