Mrzz,
Fonseca had a training session with Andrey Rublev earlier today, able to view only limited shots of their training session via twitter
He (Fonseca) is going to meet a young Danish player Elmer Møller in the first round. Elmer won his first tournament on Sunday and won the deciding David Cup match against Serbia for Denmark...

Yep. Tough nut to crack. Kid is playing above his ranking. In the qualies and in this tournament he just won he beat a lot of decent players.

Judging from his picture on the live scores website, he is 12 years old.

Van de Zanschulp LL (again) for the 4th time in 2025, third in his last 4 tournaments, will play Struff
Hijikata LL will play Opelka, due to the fact that both Carbelles Baena and Thompson withdrew

Yes he looks very young, but he is 21. None of us thought he had a chance against Medjedovic and was totally gone in the first set in the Davis Cup Match. But he really proved us wrong....

Alcaraz on his Madrid participation,
" I'm a little physically down. Tomorrow, my team and I will analyse the medical tests and make a decision"
"I'm going to everything possible to play in the tournament".

Hopefully with rest and treatment he will be okay for Rome, seeing it is just a small tear, Madrid goes for nearly 2 weeks so he does have time on his side, also he has no points to defend until RG
Thanks Margaret, hopefully that’s the case and he’s ok soon!

Hmm...I'd write Rome off. While it sounds like a minor injury, it will still require at least 2-3 weeks of rest, then he'll have to build back his strength. If I'm Carlos, I'm thinking about RG and nothing else.

For sure! And let’s face it, his main rivals aren’t going to Paris in top notch form. The world number one is prolly battling a small dose of beer belly and Zverev is…well, “Zverev.”

Rune might develop interestingly after Barcelona and Novak might be eyeing an opportunity, but I think Carlos will still be favourite heading into RG…

I wouldn't be surprised if we get an off the grid winner at RG. I mean, we're way overdue for an unexpected winner at the slams in the men's game. We haven't had one in 21 years, when Gaudio won the 2004 French Open.

Roland Garros could theoretically return to its traditional role as a haven for one-Slam wonders and clay specialists. From 1989-2004, 12 different players accounted for 16 Roland Garros titles...only Bruguera (2), Courier (2), and Kuerten (3) won it more than once during that time.

Realistically, it will likely return to something more like the 70s and 80s, when you had a mixture of guys like Borg (5), Wilander and Lendl (3 each) with a mixture of one-time winners. Rafa created an unusual context that we're unlikely to see again for any Slam. I could see Carlos winning it several times, but more like the Wilander/Lendl (3 each) to Borg (5) level.

The point being, we're likely to see some "non-great" Roland Garros winners. But of course this is true of the other Slams, as well. The Big Three had them on such lockdown from 2004 to 23 - a full 20 years - that it is hard to imagine anything different, but really that was an anomaly. I would argue that for a time at least, the Connors-Borg-McEnroe-Lendl era had similar elements of dominance, but not quite to the same extent or length.
