Yes it is going to be interesting. I'm going to watch it but had hoped to see e match between Holger end Novak. But it'll be fun anyway.

I like Shapovalov as well. I have a very soft spot for him and FAA when they play doubles together. I get the impression they are really good friends having a good time together.

I just wanted to share that a few days ago I wasted about two hours watching silly ATP quizzes of players - stuff like, "Player most likely to..." or history stuff like "Name every Tour Finals winner" (p.s. Rafa was the only one who got everyone one). Anyhow, Felix Auger-Aliassime was in a lot of them and I must say, he is such a great kid - very thoughtful, intelligent, and without the bravado of some/most of the other players. He knew a lot about tennis history, and was considered to be the guy on tour that would be an artist (he is a pianist).

It also fits with my view that he doesn't quite have the killer instinct, which may be holding him back. But it did reinvigorate my liking of this kid - I really hope he can surprise and take it to the next level, or at least have a successful career and snag a Masters or two.

Felix’s game, statistically speaking is in a rut.

Ponder this one stat: the last time he reached the Qtrs of a Major was the 2022 AO. That is 3 full years.

FAA seems content to pile up 250’s tourney points & comfortably stay in, say, the top 30 to keep sponsorships, direct entries to tornaments, prize money, etc to have a nice lifestyle. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. The man turns 25 this year.

However I see no indications he’s at all concerned or feel the urgency to move up or make changes to his game or approach.

Here's a comp for Felix: Richard Gasquet. Both showed up on the radar at a young age. Year-end rankings through age 24:

RG: 161, 93, 107, 16, 18, 8, 25, 52
FA: 601, 162, 108, 21, 21, 11, 6, 29, 29

Sort of a similar pattern: both made a big jump - RG from 19 to 20, FA 18 to 19. Both had their best ranking year (so far) at age 22. Both fell back to the 25+ range after.

Gasquet rose again in his late 20s and remained in the top 30 or so into his early 30s, and has been more in the 50-80ish range since. Who knows how FA might turn out, but I could see him eventually having another spike, maybe ala Dimitrov (another somewhat similar player, in terms of possible career pattern and level).

However Dimitrov for all his unfulfilled early potential, from 2014-2024 has been remarkably consistent, with his YE ranking never dipping below #28, (he has 8 years ranked YE top 20 or higher)plus a consistently respectable Major & Masters record.

All iI’m saying is that he seems to have a stronger basis/foundation for his game than either RG or FAA for which he has his spurts of actualized brilliance .

Disagree I prefer the mens final to be on a Sunday in any tournament Masters 1000 ATP 500 and 250 I also dislike some of the Masters 1000 tournaments going for 2 weeks!
On a weekend more fans are available and usually TV rates higher on a weekend
Roland Garros, providing additional revenue from a extra day of ticket sales the tournament on a Sunday increases TV exposure on a day in which more people typically tune int televised sports. TV audicences on a Sunday afternoon is 5 million views, the audience on a Monday the first day of the tournament is 1.2 million, then goes to 2 million, if we start on a Sunday, we will have 5 million viewers.
At the end of the day it always about tickets sales and TV participation, which equates to more dollars
