Yes El Dude. Roger was a consistent finalist on clay in 2008, and Novak was a beast throughout the clay season (only lost to Federer and Nadal and won Rome). And you add guys like Davydenko, Ferrer and the rest and it's definitely tougher
At Monte Carlo 2008, he beat Ferrer, Davydenko, Federer...even an old Ferrero....at Barcelona Ferrer....at Rome he lost to Ferrero...at Hamburg he beat Murray, Moya, Djokovic, Federer...at Roland Garros Djokovic and Federer....overall I'd say the competition was quite a bit higher in 2008
2008 was probably the highest level of competition on tour in recent memory. Because the young guns rose (Novak, Murray and Del Potro who had great results in the summer), and the older guys were still all top 10 players
