All their meetings have come on a hard court. Obviously Kerber won the last meeting which was her maiden slam at this year's Aussie Open. Can she duplicate the magic and keep Serena from history again?

Nah, Serena needs her hammer, 2nd serve .It's really has been what has made her appears to be mortal this past year. We know that her first serve makes her immortal but it's the second serve that really makes her legendary. If Serena is serving well ,her feet will be moving forward and ready because Kerber will throw in a few drop shots to keep Serena "honest_ and at bay behind the baseline.

I have voted for Kerber in straights. After todays semi it looks like Kerber has got out of the shadow her win in AO caused - what I mean? Kerber was very overwhelmed after her win in AO and had too much to do with the media and sponsors and expectations were very high in Germany. It's on a normal level now and she's has played a bit under the radar through the first week building up her gameplay. It was good today and against a player like Venus it means a lot - so Kerber in straights but I don't mind if Serena gets her win. But Serena has not been up against a player like Kerber so we actually don't know how good she is - even if her gameplay was flawless today - exciting isn't it

I actually thought the Venus and Kerber match was underwhelming nobody played to their best potential. Serena is going to have to serve well, and really go after Kerber's serve. I think Serena would be wise to take large cuts at Kerber's serve when opportunity presents itself to send a message.

I guess the solace Serena can take from this is Kerber has a slam this year and she doesn't, so she can look at it more as pressure is on Kerber as someone who already holds a slam.

1. No matter who wins, I think we will have a very good match in the finals. Both the semifinals of today were thoroughly disappointing. Serena giving a clinic and VW & AK in a crap fest.

2. Needless to say that Serena will not be underestimating her opponent having lost to her already this year and that too at a slam final. Serena is usually good at revenge matches.

3. If Serena plays like the way she did against Svetlena after the roof closed, she will win it. Anything other than that, it is anybody's guess.

4. I think Kerbie being a leftie gives some intrigue to this match-up.

I will take Serena in 3 (or Kerbie in 2 :ras: ). The only thing I can say for sure is that if it goes to third set, by mental strength alone Serena will win.

I think the thing that cost Serena in both of her finals was not being nearly as aggressive on her returns and not making the most of break opportunities. She will have to do that against Kerber.

I feel whatever shortcomings Serena has as a player she very rarely loses to the same person twice. I think she will go into this with a heightened sense of awareness of if she wants it she is going to have to take it because all of the firepower lies on her side of the net.

If Kerber serves as poor as she did against Halep and as she did against Venus for most of that match Serena in theory shouldn't have any issues. I suggest Serena become familiar with the body serve and employ it on second serves as necessary. Winning the first set is crucial. However, Serena seems to have issues with lefties for whatever reason.

Like I stated earlier , it's her 2nd serve that will be the determination of this match for Serena. Even if Kerber plays poorly, Serena needs to win free points with her services .If she lets Kerber stay close she will be the crowd's favorite which will put more pressure on Serena
