Kerbie leads the head-to-head 4-3, but Karolina just defeated Angie in the finals of Cinci last month.

I am picking Kerber in two sets. Playing a slam final is too new an experience for KP to do well.

Kerber deserves a lot of credit for making improvements to her game that propelled her to number one. I saw her lose to Woz 2.5 years ago at Indian Wells in two quick sets. She missed every short ball Woz gave her and was visibly frustrated.

This isn't the USO ending I wished for and hope Serena can find a way to win one more major.

Kerbie, for sure. Don't know how many sets?

Only Hingis, Kim and Justine have won against both williamses in the same tourney. But, did they all end up winning the tournament as well? I think so. But, too far back to trust on my memory. If so, KP will be the first exception.

I don't think Hingis did it. She actually lost the final to Capriati if I'm not mistaken. Kim won the whole thing at the USO 09 w/ the infamous FF. Justine did it at the USO 07. Other than that, Lindsay did it in a smaller tour event like San Diego or Carlsbad in 2004.

so beating a sister is a badge of honor..so if you beat Vinci and Errani in a row its no biggie.I remember someone beating Roger and Wawrinka in a row its never talked about on the mens tour because it means nothing to be honest...apparently Serena has a knee injury.

We all thought the same thing because she had never been past the 4th round of a major and look how that has turned out. I think it goes 3 sets and in that instance I like Pliskova's serve to prevail when it gets tight. She's shown her metal this tournament and it's held up pretty well when the match is on the line.

Forget Serena and Kerber, Pliskova is playing like the world number one since Cinci. Kerber will be the usual nervous wreck out there and lose in 2.

I don't know why you get so personal about this. It's very simple. The Italians are not sisters and aren't even as good as the Williams. There are other sister pairs on tour, but again none of those pairs are as successful as the Williams. And while it might not seem all that important to you, the fact that it hasn't been done much speaks to just how hard a feat it really is. A few players have beaten them both in the same tournament, but the number of players who actually went on to win the tournament is small.

Tignor picked Pliskova, and I think he might be right. She has the form-horse thing going on. But nerves always play a part in big matches, and even more so in wimmins tennis, where the poor dears have been reduced to quivering tearful wrecks and shank mares, even in the warm up. :popcorn

I don't expect Kerber to drop a calf, she'll be steady and cute  but if Pliskova plays as well as she can, her swagger and serve may sway it for her...
