What is more concerning than to miss the AO is that he has a shoulder surgery at only 19y. This does not sound good at all. It is his serving arm, so it could have a big impact on his career.

Yeah it is bad news for him.  Hopefully it is nothing serious, not all shoulder surgeries are serious.  At least I hope that is the case with the young Aussie.

Gasquet is going to miss Doha with a back issue.  Hopefully he'll be OK for AO.

Unfortunately I heard that.   Hopefully he'll be back soon enough.

And my Tipsy is missing AO as well, so far his come-back hasn't been very successful.

Murray pins his hopes of winning on Djokovic's level dropping.

One doubts Wawrinka would ever say something like that.

andy is not the only one. rafa too keeps crying about it rather than doing something about it.

he said it again. he said he has never seen anybody play at this level.

no shit Sherlock. djokovic is stretching 2-3 times a day and working on his game and his fitness around the bloody clock.

memo to rafa: go out work djokovic and then maybe you can win more than 3 games against in a match.

I like your attitude Clay Death.  :good: That's the needed spirit allright, it's what Novak did back in 2011. Federer never quite did it in response to Nadal, and Nadal doesn't seem to be able to shift into another gear either. RG will tell us more.

Rafa rather fart around and just pay lip service to working hard while Djokovic plans and plots a total and complete rampage of this planet.

djokovic is actually working hard all hours of the day and night. that is how you get the results he is getting.

It is three o'clock in the morning. You can hear just some late crickets disturbing the peace of the night. A few slow clouds pass in front of a waning moon.

But what is that noise of someone... snorting?

It is Novak Djokovic! He is doing push ups!!!

101, 102, 103...

Nobody can outwork this guy, folks!

In fairness, Nadal did find an answer to Djokovic post 2011.  He's surely going to have to find another one, though.  I don't agree with Clay Death that Rafa is some layabout who doesn't work towards better results.  His results are improving against most.  The question is if he can find an(other) answer to Djokovic.

Ugh, this "Rafa doesn't work hard" bullshit narrative is by far the most annoying thing Samson has spammed.

he outworks them all and has the results to prove it.

djokovic could have easily won 6-0, 6-0 the other day. just let him have 3 games out of pity and charity.

rafa should feel ashamed that he is letting djokovic do this to him.

this is not by accident. this is by design. djokovic is working while rafa is just talking about working hard.

who the bloody hell gives a damn about rafa beating 70th ranked players while also coughing up sets in the process.

djokovic never lost a single set in that Doha event.

moxie and broken shoe lace need to stop living under the bloody rock. this rafa is not going anywhere.

until rafa can produce a single title other that rio and hamburg, broken shoe lace and moxie don't have a leg to stand on.

only way rafa can change his stars is with tremendous amount of hard work. he is not very fit. he had little or no power in his shots against djokovic. he was also tired.

he has insufficient depth in his shots.

he also cant return the bloody ball. I don't know why he cant see that.

he said very clearly that he had to improve his return of serve for 2016. that is right after he said that all he has to do is improve his serve.

wrong rafa. go improve your fitness and your physicality first. and then produce huge blocks of work on clay so you can find your consistency back.

either that or just keep getting your ass handed to you by djokovic. and just keep telling the world that you have never seen anybody play at the level djokovic is playing.

don't tell the world how good djokovic is. his results say it all. we know this.

worry about yourself. or don't worry about yourself because making around $50 million a year has to cool the sting of these devastating losses.

I have to believe that rafa is done and doesn't really want to win. he hangs around the sport because the money is so good. it is his life so he can do as he pleases.

but I still would not let djokovic crush me like a hapless mosquito like this like he has done in 9 out of his last 10 matches against rafa.

djokovic is making more money than all of them and he cant stop working around the clock on his fitness and his game.

this year djokovic will become the first player in history to top $100 million in on court prize money alone.

I am expecting an early exit by Rafa.

that should force him to go play the Buenos Aires event.

I really cant see him get past the quarterfinals.

That is true. 2013 was a stellar year by Nadal. Mostly because of the rediculous level he displayed during the North American hardcourt swing. Looking back though, it really wasn't much more than that as he always has had the upper hand on clay until last year. So a brief burst of excellence, unsustained even though he did reclaim the number 1 spot.
