Serena leads the H2H 2-0

Carla has never taken a set off Serena. They met earlier this year in the Rome QF where Serena would take the match 6-2 6-0.

If she can't make a game of it on clay, I don't think she will make it happen here. Serena in straights.

Well she just got a close look at the Serena serve the other day in doubles. Not that I think it will help her much. Serena in straights. Carla might win 5 games total.

Serena in a FAST straight set win. Her real test is in the SFs against Li.

Carla has made great strides in the last couple of years. She was sitting around 43rd when I saw her play in England. Believe it or not she lost to Stephanie Dubois of Canada who was ranked around 115 then. Since that time, she has elevated her game and can provide challenges for opponents, obviously Angelique will testify to that. Yet, Serena will overpower her, it might take a game or two, but I have Serena's beating the Spaniard in straight sets. Carla's run will end abruptly in the 1/4 finals.

I think that Serena is going to tinker with slowing her pace down on her serve a few mph for placement at the beginning of this match and finished with a barrage of aces. This should be very similar to their recent encounter on clay

That sums up it nicely.

Look how thoughtful Serena is, giving Carla a glazed doughnut for her birthday. :p

Really...what about ONE birthday present? Can't Serena give her a game?

Well hey he can stay in her box if she is going to keep playing like this. Granted Carla never had the fire power to hurt Serena, but Li can't be feeling too good about what happened here tonight.

Was actually hoping Carla would have gotta that last game. And, for the third straight match, she, Serena, let her opponent shake the chairs hand first.
