Typical! Absolute quiet from loud-mouths who were so sure Djokovic would go down in flames to Vacherot! I woke up to find he not only won, he had to tough it out in 3 sets! Heaven knows how he'll feel for his next match vs Hijikata! That'll help the old guy if he can make it to the "giant killer," de Minaur in 3rd Rd.!:fearful-face::astonished-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

I don't remember anybody saying he would go down to Vacherot. You said he had a tough draw. I said that cousin wouldn't WD and that he would play and be on a high since winning last week. Reading is fundamental...

So you're going to tell me no one was gloating thinking Novak was wasting his time trying to make the YEC?? Well if true, only this site didn't! :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

LOL! Keli
Though if anyone watched the match, Novak took his usual MTO trailing in the 2nd set down 1-2? Strange that :) with a right shoulder complaint
Vacherot really had to dismiss him in 2 sets, Vacherot ran out of puff in final set.

BTW
For an indoor hard court these courts are slow, though according to tournament director Cedric Pioline he said the court was faster than last year? I beg to differ, and yes I am wearing my glasses.

Paul, Fritz and Djokovic all won their matches, and are still in the hunt to make Turin
Lekecka lost to Michelsen in 3 sets, he was a very, very outside chance to make Turin, with that defeat he cant make it.

What about the last 2 years? I'm pretty sure Novak pulled out of the YEC after qualifying for it. I much rather he miss it and younger players like Jodar earn the spot, then have Novak qualify then pull out again.

In 2024 Novak pulled out of the finals in Turin, citing 'ongoing injury' but didnt disclose what the injury was? after qualifying as the defending champion
In 2025 he withdrew again after a grueling final nearly 3 hours against Musetti, at the Athens Open, he chose to rest than risk further damage to his body, he was wearing shoulder strapping in the match

You can say that about any player! It was thought no one'd WD needing pts. to make the YEC! Cobolli's the 1st! It happens to the best of them! :)

Please Novak withdrew twice after qualifying for the ATP finals, in 2024 and 2025 citing on going injuries and wanted to rest his body, of course he didnt actually disclose what the injuries were, face facts!
Read my post above with the full details.!'
Of course in his match today he took a MTO when trailing 1-2 in the 2nd set? strange that:)
Vacherot just ran out of puff in the final set

A very good opening set from Ruud 6-3 over Jodar
Its not officially a must win for Jodar as far as Turin goes but it may as well be, de Minaur would be able to pass him with just 1 win
